Two sleeps remain until the MCG lights up for the opening match of the KFC T20 Big Bash League as the Stars and Renegades battle it out in the Big Melbourne Derby from 7.45pm on Friday.
Cricket Australia (CA) CEO James Sutherland officially launched the third season of the KFC T20 Big Bash League this morning in St Kilda ahead of the opening round of matches this weekend.
Australian Test batsmen Steve Smith and David Warner will line up for the Sixers and Thunder respectively in the Sydney Smash showdown at the SCG on Saturday, 21 December from 7.15pm.
CA announced that Smith, Warner and George Bailey will be released to play in the opening round of the KFC T20 Big Bash League. Doug Bollinger and Nathan Coulter-Nile who have been training with the Australian team in Perth, and who were drafted in to the Test squad for Melbourne yesterday evening, will also be released for BBL duties.
On Sunday, the Hobart Hurricanes will host the Adelaide Strikers at Blundstone Arena on Sunday, 22 December from 1.45pm, and will be followed by last season’s BBL final re-match between Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers at the Gabba from 6.15pm.
