Well I think its safe to say hes already been deified in Bangalore, but If he managed to score as many runs as this thread will eventually get views then his name wouldn't be Gayle, but ( - insert name of relevant cultural divinity here - ).

Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring nothing ... again ... but that's alright it's only due to personal reasons. For the record CG made 64 & 9 not out in a Windies victory in the first test agains Bangladesh. It is this poster's opinion that prior to that his performances in recent times have continued to be underwhelming. His powers at the international level appear to have been on the wanr for quite some time now.

wth 11467 views for this pile of garbage?! Lord have His mercy. Looks like some folks determined to send the message that the Don-A-Gorgon ODI aggregate score will never, ever, ever, ever reach the peaks that it ought to have done. As for the test aggregate ... dat long time since get overtek ... because of more personal reasons.

Over the last three test series CHG's avg has been 37.80, four points lower than his career avg.

Going over some numbers for the 500th test I was amazed to find CHG was the 5th, now 6th, highest wicket taker among West Indian spin bowlers.

https://cricket.yahoo.com/news/soaring- ... 00986.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"
The number of West Indian spinners who have taken 100 or more Test wickets.

Lance Gibbs is way ahead with 309 wickets at 29.09, Sonny Ramadhin,158 at 28.98, Alf Valentine, 139 at 30.32 and Carl Hooper,114 at 49.42.

The next-highest after Hooper is Chris Gayle, with 73 wickets @ 42.73.
This article went to print on 12th Sep and S Benn now has 79 wickets @ 35.60. S Shillingford has 70.

Also contained in the link is

Chris Gayle 14.82 % of team runs in tests, naturally I compared that to the best bat in the team, Shiv*, and the numbers aren't far apart. 16.01 %.

Brian Lara's was 20.26 %

Hi Gils, hope you and yours are all good. You are absolutely right and I fully accept that my ongoing niggle at CG's is based on the feeling that he could have done better. As a cricket fan i delight in his triumphs. And without him west indies would have maybe plumbed deeper depths. But in considering him a great, I will always be slightly underwhelmed.

Underwhelmed seems to lead to
Same old FAYLE mike...beat up pon CLUB cricketers and FAYLES when WI need him
quite regularly on this board, followed by questions about his taxes, subjectively speaking I fully understand he will never jump the bar you have set him, as is your choice.

I personally don't see much sense in judging players on what they haven't subjectively accomplished rather than quantifiable results as it leads to all sorts if hounds getting a pass while confirmed performers are said to have " failed ".

Objectively speaking I'd say its pretty messed up when 14.82 is underwhelming while 16.01 is assigned greatness :!:

Objectively I'd also say cricket is a game of numbers, and only 15 other bats have scored more ODI runs, and only one West Indian

All time leading ODI run scorers

10 ) BC Lara (ICC/WI) 1990-2007 299 289 32 10405 169 40.48 13086 79.51 19 63 16

16 ) CH Gayle (ICC/WI) 1999-2014 258 253 17 8810 153* 37.33 10482 84.04 21 46 22

17 ) S Chanderpaul (WI) 1994-2011 268 251 40 8778 150 41.60 12408 70.74 11 59 6

:?: So if you're underwhelmed with Gayle what does that say about the scores of batsmen who represented the " great institution" to quote Affers, that is WI cricket.

IMO He's far from a great, however that's currently being measured. As far as WI opening bats go only a select few have eclipsed his efforts.

RAOTFLMFAO. Am really sorry for this but timing is everything and after all by now you must realise that am totally crazy. Can the umpire, when next Chris Gayle takes guard, tell him seh that birds does lay eggs; not give birth to them :!:

:D :D :D That is priceless. Can you imagine the sledging next time Chris out without scoring :?:   Hey Chris, is how long woz you in labour over that duck egg:?:

Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring nothing but an egg is born!

Blessings indeed for 2015.
