Luckily this question, bordering on the comparative issue when it comes to assessing the value that Chris Gayle brings to the team, was raised elsewhere. However I feel that my musings on a possible ansher is worthy of a spot amidst the madness pervading this topic.

Being a left-handed batter, the right arm has a leading role to play for an openher taking aim (i mean guard) at the crease. On top of which insurance premiums high, high nowadays ... and Gayle is not into 'switch-hitting business' cos he know good is which side he does bat for

Nobody can score any more against the big boys...that's the fate of the entire West Indies. We have no choice but to wait for the UAE.mapoui2 wrote:he cant score anymore against the big bwoys
The sooner they give Test status to Ireland and Afghanistan, the better it will be for the Windies....
How have our batsmen fared so far?
1) Gayle 258 runs @ 64.50
2) Samuels 192 runs @ 64
3) Simmons 152 @ 50.66
4) Sammy 124 runs @ 41.33
All the other batsmen have accumulated less than 100 runs....
So, even though Gayle might not be in the same bracket as AB deVilliers or Sanga, he's still the best we've got!

Ah well, 'tis a sure sign that this topic is entering its' old age dotage because I find myself reaching into the record collection again - twice in very close succession you might notice - to opine that some folks best is way better than other's
Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring not many sometimes ... but always giving us the best that he's got I do wonder
Howzabout we also dedicate that to a previously unmentioned wifey Ask no Questions and mi nah tell no lie
PS: Does anyone really read this? Or is it me alone pressing enter 14 odd thousand times
Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring on howzdat's decks twice in close succession!!

I too thinking about retiring from this Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring nothing ... again mularkey! Dats right! Me & Chris gonna issue a joint communique - a twenty page and counting one because I thinking to fire de wuk. Meanwhile ...

And before any smarty pants get peculiar ideas in they heads, i done steal the caption prize with: Gayle curries flava amongst indian beauties night before World Cup match. Will the runs be on the menu sometime shortly thereafter:?: ... only asking.
We will see. Am hoping for at least a century, in a winning cause, not duck curry'.

West Indies 182 (44.2 ov)
India 185/6 (39.1 ov)
India won by 4 wickets (with 65 balls remaining)
Suffice to say that by my original way of counting I feel fuh tek all the plaudits pon dis topic for predicting that Gayle would admirably live up to the tag Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring nothing ... again. We didn't get a century, nor a windian win. But I can confirm that Chris batted for a spot in a three way tie for windies 3rd highest score in that 185.
Gayle, Carter & Extras contributed 21 a piece ... as i predicted would be the case when giving ya'll a few (21) insights into the number of pages in the communique. I think in the business it is called a Scoop!
Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring 21 for our communique ... howzdat to sideline as a seefarian

41st Match, Pool B - United Arab Emirates v West Indies at McLean Park, Napier
On account of the fact that i just feel like it and the abbreviated name of their next opponent, the pre-match Gayle hype on this topic will be known as the Gayle IO ??? vs UAE; unpacked it goes something like: Gayle's innings of "we don't quite know how many" vs United Arab Emirates.
Those with their wits about them - and a long memory - will notice that Chris has again scored on my decks ....
"I.O.U." is a song from 1983 by British musical group Freeez, their most successful hit.
The song scored #2 in the UK Singles Chart[1] earlier in 1983 before reaching the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in the U.S.,[2] giving them their only chart-topping single on any chart in America. It then became the 20th best-selling single of 1983 in the United Kingdom. "I.O.U." was used for the 1984 breakdance movie, Beat Street. The chorus is ... actually "A-E, A-E, I-O-U I sometimes cry" and "A-E, A-E, I-O-U I sometimes lie". (source: Wikipedia)
Yours Truly,
datzhow
Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring how many vs U.A.E Well he didn't play.
West Indies 176 for 4 (Charles 55, Carter 50*) beat UAE 175 (Aziz 60, Javed 56, Holder 4-27) by six wickets
Chris Gayle, living it large, will he be fit for the next game?
