This is Afro's vision of the West Indies...identifying players he dislikes, and getting rid of them, regardless of their record for the team.

He has had his eyes set on Shiv and Gayle for years now...that's how the WICB operates - no gratitude. Instead, after 20 years of service, Afro and the WICB trough-feeders celebrate his dropping, not his career....

That's why you should not dedicate yourself to the service of the West Indies, like Shiv did, because you will just be shabbily treated. That's why I believe that any player who can get the work should take the IPL first, and West Indies later, as Gayle and Narine have done. Take care of your future, because dedicating your career solely to the West Indies is going to blow up in your face.

No doubt, Afro will laugh and do a merry dance when Gayle is no longer playing for the Windes, but what Afro doesn't realise is that the joke's on him...Gayle has already moved on from the West Indies. He chose IPL over WI in April-May, and he's currently choosing Somerset over WI vs Australia...wise man.

He's taking care of his financial future, and if IPL and Somerset pay more than WI cricket, then go for it! I will continue to cheer for Gayle as long as he plays CPL cricket for Jamaica...that's more important to me now than West Indies.

The Jamaica Invitational International athletics meet in Kingston's National Stadium drew over 20,000 fans on May 9, and the CPL at Sabina Park will be sold out for Jamaica's matches. In contrast, I predict that the Windies Test against Australia will only draw a few hundred...so there are quite a lot of Jamaicans who feel like me.

Essex 176 v Somerset 145/3 (16.2/20 ov). Gayle just hit a six to move his score to ... and another six to move his score to .... and then ducks from a good bouncer. Score is 157/3. Gayle almost caught on 86. Three overs remain with 19 runs needed. A single scored so Gayle back on strike and scores a single himself. Chris Gayle 88 not out after 18 overs with ? runs needed. Chris hits a four first ball 164/4 Gayle 92 ... and then is out caught with 13 required. Eventually Somerset need one run off last ball and get it to win by 3 wickets.

Yes folks, in the continued saga of Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring nothing ... again it appears that we are in one of those interludes in which the man is all guns blazing aiming to show his detractors that is he who run t'ings with bat in hand.

On a more pedantic note, notwithstanding the fact that it is now the norm, I hafi confess to a slightly irked response when I read how commentators on the game detail the number of boundaries a cricketer hit in any innings.

Can somebody tell me is since when a boundary four i.e. a ball that the batsman fails to hit clear over the rope or whatever it is that marks the cricket field; differs from a boundary six which he does actually hit the ball clear over the rope or whatever it is that marks the cricket field

Aint dem is both boundaries? Since when is a only a six is a boundary Stuuuuupppppssss, talk like dat nah is damn foolishness dat will not catch on my lingo, am afraid. But who cares, to each his own.
