gibson is employed by the wicb and he must play the politics relatated to keeping his job, maintaining a good resume so that he may continue to work if and when the westindies job ends.
and it will end for coaches have a short average shelf life, in any particular job!
as westindies coach how much power can Gibson possibly have? and he must suck up to Hunte and Hilare or his job is done. You know how those men are!
I dont see how Gibson can be at fault here. he has a difficult job the parameters of which are obvious. he has to keep a lot of people pleased with him. and pleasing them does not necessarily have much to do with making a successful cricket team that can defeat the world.
that is why I dont beat up on Gibson for I dont see how his job is a purely cricket matter.
If Shillingford is a Dottie, from the windwads no less, and Hilaire and Hunte are from the Windards, and see this as the windwards time to dominate....just like Viv and Richie dominated when Antigua and the Leewards were boss...what the hell is Gibson going to do if they direct that Shillingford must be selected?
even if one time he mentioned to them, hat Shillingford was suspect and might be called internationally, and they allowed his selection anyway what the hell could Gibson have done save go along, coach and when the time came support his player anyway, although he knew he would be out?
I cant talk much about Gibson man. and I wont beat up on the man for I can see his job. we may never know how good a coach he really is in and between the politics

who are looking at the players during net sessions, tapes, etc and help them out? Tell me they didn't see Shillingford was pelting? If you know a guy pelting you still select him? Gibson was happy with the team selected to SL for the test series..

at he same time I am not calling Gibson a 'good' man nor giving him a free pass!
I simply understand the obvious situation he is a part of, what would hamstring any cricket job he can or cannot do for the westindies employed by this wicb we have today.
the wicb as it is currently constituted can work only to the disadvantage of westindies cricket. this wicb will hire people who will do badly...or be forced to do badly by the way thngs are....or who would resign in frustration and go away

it does not matter what Gibson sees. if Gibson saw Kooper and Sunila narine and called the Titty people would they have even listend to him?
as caoch is Gibson even entitled to make such a call according to the rules?
it seems to me that if he spoke to Dudnath or any other Titty official, it would have had to have been informal and off the record and so non-binding.
the way i see the relationship between all those cricket entities in the westindies if Gibson took it upon himsef to go around whatever protocol in place he could be eaaily expose himself to disrespect, create a bad debt that he would not want to pay.
what would it behove him to be accused of interferring with regional selection? and how would it play out if he advised against a certain player, and as a result another player benefittrd who may be said to be his bwoy?
would that not result in serious favouritism and insularity charges in a region notoriously riven with island-based insecurities and antagonisms?
man look the more I think of it the more I sympathise with Gibsons job.
in the current westindesi I would not take that job for 2 million anually... far less what Gibson is likely to be making which must be consdiderably less than what the Oz coaches used to make

precisely! the responsiblity is his for the failure he would not be entirely responsible for. ..indeed may not be responsible in any way at all.
that is what he is getting paid for in all probability, to be a scapegoat..another in a long line of them working for the wicb

WI refused to take Sarwan to SL for the test series....who was fit... but Gibson was happy to take a pelter instead. I' watched the interview on the WICB site where Gibbo was talking about the team...etc and he was part of the selection team.

yuh not arguing properly! yuh not taking aything I have said into consideration.
Gibson does not pik the westindies side! and I would wager any money at all that Shillingfords pik was not up to Gibson but is an insular pick. Hunte and Hilaire wanted Shilignford on the side, as deh want Devon Smith on the side, as deh made Sammy captain. and dats dat!
I told you that they would make Sammy captain. you could not see it but it was clear to me.
the only sooprise in this selection is that Fletcher is not the keeper over idiot Baugh.
but the Yardies had to have somethng more than just Gayle and Russell or Haynes would throw a tantrum. yu doh want to have to face a tantrum from a dread like Haynes do you?
man this is the westindies yuh talking about!
