leg spinner tend to leak more runs is a fact.......but they get more wickets as well....reason they deliver the ball from the back of their head which makes it difficult to control where the ball pitches hence can leak a few runs but make batsman play a few careless shots so take more wickets...good off spinners are likely to be economical than being wicket taker.....because they bring the ball into the batsmen and they in reply to stay safe....you surely do understand the difference between a ball coming into the stumps means more chances batsman playing it safe cause all 3 lbw catch out bold options are open whereas against a delivery going out of stumps they can only be caught....

or 'bowled' playing onto the stumps, trying a flashing cut shot - just in case any leg spinners are reading our conversations.

Nonetheless I agree with the general point you make about leg spinners tending to be more expensive till they develop the necessary control and guile that deters the batsmen from taking liberties.

Well Bishoo hasn't really been leaking that many runs!!, furthermore Murali has taken more wickets than Warne so your theory isn't 100% certain, regardless though you've pretty much backed up my notion that Ajmal shouldn't scare us in the Tests, being "economical" in that format doesn't win you Test matches, taking wickets does.

What's wrong about talking about THE BEST TWO SPINNERS that have played the game? and btw i'm also a big fan of Swann!!..he's the number one man right now but the way Bishoo is going that won't last long.
