Remember there are international observers and representative from each party monitoring the process all the way. This is the same reason I seh dat some SKUNTS really love to play the VICTIM role...Looks like de APNU is all set to cause disturbance with that posting!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I just hope that people are smart enough to accept and respect the DEMOCRACY given to them!!! :lol:

For those of us who are not Guyanese, please explain to us how Guyana's electoral system works....

It seems so unnecessarily complicated.

Why can't it be a Westminster-style system, that exists in other West Indian countries, like Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad?

Why can't it be a Westminster-style system, that exists in other West Indian countries, like Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad?
I will give my best shot here...

1: Voters have to be 18 and over
2: After the votes are tallied (in total) not by Regions...
3: Parties are granted SEATS in Parliment based on the total amounts of VOTES received.

Not that complicated!!! 8-)

Ah, so is it proportional representation, like they have in Italy?

So, if the PPP get 51% of the vote, they get 51% of the seats...is that how it works?
