if you put in the world 11 games and 29 tons its...its one4 every 3.38 tests

Interesting. So Clarke is approaching the great Sobers in that respect. Any other WI batsmen close to that?

Arnik wrote:A look at the averages of Clarke in recent series shows that he has had some difficulty:
1. In the series in the WI earlier this year Clarke only averaged 31.33.
2.Against India in Oz he averaged 125.50
3.In the ashes in Oz he averaged 21.44

Still 21 centuries in 85 tests is extremely good. Most greats can barely manage 1 every 5 tests.

Now that Clarke is captain he seems to be even more focused. Expect runs from him in the next ashes contest.
For Clarke to get big scores, he had to get support from the tail to do so... Aus tail is not long as other teams.

He took over the captaincy and handling it well with a bunch of young guys too.

I am not too sure about that. He bats number 5 and gets a lot of help from Hussey who bats at 6.

For example in the Brisbane test Clarke and Hussey put on 227 for the fifth wicket.

Before that against India at Adelaide Ponting and Clarke put on almost 400.

And looking at some of his other scores he does not look as if when he gets his big scores he is batting too much with 8,9,10,11

There is a real touch of genius in Clarke's approach to captaincy. He says it owes as much to the lessons to what he learned from Shane Warne as it does to the apprenticeship he served under Ponting. Ian Chappell has praised Clarke for his "brave and aggressive" leadership. "His entertaining approach is based on one premise: trying to win the match from the opening delivery."

Clark leading from the front, like any other true leader! ;)
