ICC Champions Trophy, 9th Match, Group B: South Africa v West Indies at Cardiff

For West Indies sake I hope he isn't going to be reluctant to bat this innings through in a winning cause.
1.4 Morris to Gayle, FOUR, murdered it. Not many other words to describe this. Chest-high bouncer, not much behind this, and he has pulled this past midwicket, all along the ground

Morris goes round the stumps

11.5 Morris to Gayle, OUT, big ball to take the big wicket. Short of a length, Gayle wants to work this to leg with the angle, but it holds its line just enough to take the leading edge to point. Boy that's some edge. It has flown to point when Gayle is looking to play with soft hands

CH Gayle c du Plessis b Morris 36 (49m 27b 5x4 1x6) SR: 133.33

The inevitable pre-tournament hype in retrospect ...

"Gayle’s entire career, in essence, has been founded on the premise of partying hard; on and off the field. He goes into the Champions Trophy, his 11th international tournament – the West Indies open their campaign against Pakistan today – as perhaps the most spectacular player on the planet ..."

Stepping back in time a bit seeking insights into the Chris Gayle psyche http://tinyurl.com/oaxnv4k" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Chris Gayle is Chris Gayle ... but great to see that he does have a keen sense of his stats. Nice one!

I lost nearly all of my money on the IPL T20 final, and hearing the coins rattling around in my piggy bank i would need crazy odds to back Chris to

1) Score a century in a winning cause in this next game West Indies v India at Port of Spain on July 5th, 2013 (09:30 local | 13:30 GMT | 14:30 BST).

2) At the end of his career to have scored 50 Test & ODI hundreds (currently on 36); and 100 Test & ODI fifties (currently on 79).

Did you see his performances in the global ICC Champions Trophy just a few weeks ago?

Long time that temporary; ought to be charged with impersonating a batsman methinks.

Since July 2012 Chris "Dudus" Gayle has made 3 ODI scores of 50 or more. Is that what you need from a opener? In the same period he has made 15 scores of less than 25. Is that what you need form an opener?

Chris Gayle, living it large, scored another 1

Pakistan tour of West Indies, 1st ODI: West Indies v Pakistan at Providence, Jul 14, 2013
Pakistan won by 126 runs
4.6 Mohammad Irfan to Samuels, Gayle can't run. Not sure why he tried this single when he knows he can't run fast anymore. Samuels pushes it towards cover, and is anxious to get off the mark. Gayle hesitates before going, but even if he had set off immediately he couldn't have beaten Misbah's direct hit at his pace 7/3
CH Gayle run out (Misbah-ul-Haq) 1

Pakistan tour of West Indies, 2nd ODI: West Indies v Pakistan at Providence, Jul 16, 2013
Game in progress
0.6 84.3 mph, forget Charles, Irfan has struck gold next ball, the big man's taken out the opposition's big man, full delivery outside off, hint of straightening, Gayle pushes loosely, half-heartedly, away from the bodty, and the keeper gladly takes the edge 2/1
CH Gayle c †Umar Akmal b Mohammad Irfan 1

Chris Gayle, living it large, scoring how many today? 8

Pakistan tour of West Indies, 3rd ODI: West Indies v Pakistan at Gros Islet, Jul 19, 2013
Pakistan 229/6 (50.0 ov)

So, as a Windian fan I am looking forward to the team getting off to a good start. C'mon Chris :!:

Erm ...
3.5 Junaid Khan to Gayle, OUT, dragged it on! Gayle's horror form continues, Junaid gave him a bit of width and Gayle's foot movement was as good as nothing, half-heartedly poked his bat out and the inside edge hit the off stump
CH Gayle b Junaid Khan 8 (12b 1x4 0x6) SR: 66.66
Chris Gayle is a leaden-footed, cow-swiper!
