malinga is injury prone he was already skipping a lot of test matches....he has played i think less then 50% tests of total test played by SL since his debut because of fitness issues...but the point is THEY ARE SKIPPING WARM UP GAME NOT INTERNATIONAL GAMES...WI players like taylor and gayle are playing ipl not giving national team priority
the solution in my opinion is to restrict ipl to just 1 month activity...its a useless tournament whose popularity is already going down make it a 30 day show and countries should try their level best THAT INTERNATIONAL SCHEDULE OVERLAPS WITH IPL FOR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE..and players should skip that part of ipl and play for country

"countries should try their level best THAT INTERNATIONAL SCHEDULE OVERLAPS WITH IPL FOR AS LITTLE AS POSSIBLE."
I think we're all agreed on that....
That's where this Pakistan tour of the Caribbean was a recipe for disaster. It is slap-bang in the middle of the IPL.

Yeah, I can agree with that....
However, it's a money-making machine. Can you see the BCCI actually agreeing to reduce the length of this hit-and-giggle-fest? And if they don't, the WICB will still need to find a way of working with the IPL in order to ensure players are kept happy, and avoid conflicts like the ones we're having now....
I'm sure our players won't mind missing a fortnight at the beginning of the IPL, or at the end of it. The problem is when we agree to stage an international series right in the middle of the IPL.
In the 1980s, I don't think we played any international cricket in the Caribbean in May....

solution is become a cricket force again...all sponsors come running to caribbean cricket...give more salaries and ipl goes down the drain automatically

Sehwag will now miss India's Test tour of the Caribbean....
He took a risk going into the IPL with a shoulder injury, and ended up aggravating it. So, now he has to have surgery, and will miss the Tests in the West Indies. Memories of Fidel Edwards, anyone?
Sehwag is yet another international player who sees the IPL as top priority, over a Test series....

Isn’t the IPL the BCCI's baby...? So, I guess it's OK for the Indians to play since international games are not scheduled to conflict with IPL.

Well, even the great Sachin Tendulkar has indicated that the IPL is more important to him than an ODI series or a Test series against the West Indies in the Caribbean, so in what way is this guy's approach different from what Gayle, Pollard and Taylor have done?

Money talks ..BS walks

Sachin is resting for England. I don't think top players want to play minnows. This is the same reason why you don't see big men playing in the streets with kids. They want to be challenged and play competitive cricket. West Indies is not selecting full strength teams, so why bother. Maybe in 2015 they will come ..
