On the second day at London, American Carmelita Jeter won the women's 100 in a time of 10.97, well ahead of Trinidad's Kelly-Ann Baptiste (11.10) and Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica (11.23). Jamaican-born American Sanya Richards won the women's 400 in a time of 49.66, ahead of Jamaicans Rosemarie Whyte (49.84), Novlene Williams (50.46), and Shericka Williams (50.64).
Walter Dix of the US won the men's 200 in a time of 20.16, followed by Warren Weir of Jamaica (20.43), Panama's Alonso Edward (20.55), and Jamaicans Marvin Anderson (20.60) and Mario Forsythe (20.76). Puerto Rican Javier Culson won the 400 hurdles in 48.33 ahead of America's Michael Tinsley (48.90) and Trinidadian Jehue Gordon (49.47).
