I too thought we would be chasing close to 300 before that 7th wicket fell at 245 off 45.2 overs... and then R Vinay Kumar b Russell 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00.
Score now 246/8 off 45.3 overs. Well played WI to pull this back.

But they'll still set a total WI haven't been able to attain. Still, maybe a fighting chance.howzdat wrote:I too thought we would be chasing close to 300 before that 7th wicket fell at 245 off 45.2 overs... and then R Vinay Kumar b Russell 0 (1b 0x4 0x6) SR: 0.00.

46.6 Roach to Vinay Kumar, OUT, one more for the West Indies, it was a shortish ball that follows Vinay, who looks to heave that towards midwicket, that is off the glove and bobs up to Baugh, who has to move a few yards to his left to pouch that easy one.
then ...
47.3 Russell to I Sharma, OUT, a lovely bowl to take out the tailender, Russell dispenses with the bouncers and slips in a perfect yorker, too good for Ishant, who can't get the bat down in time and the ball homes into the base of offstump, Russell has outstanding figures of 4-35
India end up on 251 - should be a competitive score. West Indies' fast bowlers, Russell and Roach, both tested the Indian batsmen, and Anthony Martin was accurate and economical.
I agree with you than on current performance that score has been beyond WI.
Can West Indies pull off the chase?

I didn't enjoy the lacklustre period when it appeared as if they hadn't a clue as to how to make the breakthrough. I observe this to be a persistent flaw when Wi are fielding and the opposing team manages to put together a partnership. So that runout by Sarwan was vital and ought to remind the others that they have to be switched on all the time and take every opportunity to make something happen.
All in all I think that India will be disappointed and West Indies happy to have pulled things back after seeming to have let go of the early initiative.
