Here is Yohan Blake destroying Tyson Gay in the 100m at Lausanne....

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Blake ran 9.69 to Gay's 9.83, making Blake the second-fastest man of all time. Now Afro, here is why Blake's 9.69 is superior to Gay's 9.69, that the American set all the way back in 2009 in Shanghai. Gay had a tailwind of +0.2 behind him, only just within the legal limit. That was the only way Gay could run 9.69, and why he's never repeated it since, and never will. Blake was running into a -0.1 headwind. Can you imagine how fast Blake could've run if he had that +0.2 tailwind behind him?
:)
Maybe Blake might get that wind in Brussells next month. One way or another, Blake will lower his PB sooner or later. Blake is on the way up, while your guy Gay is on the way down....

It was a great day for Caribbean athletics once again....

Yohan Blake ran the third fastest time ever, and became the second fastest man of all time, behind Jamaican compatriot Usain Bolt, with a clocking of 9.69 seconds to win the 100m at the Lausanne Diamond League meet. He blew away American Tyson Gay, who finished second in 9.83, with another Jamaican, Nesta Carter, finishing third in 9.95.

In the women's equivalent, Carmelita Jeter of the US and Shelly-Ann Fraser of Jamaica both clocked 10.86, but Jeter won it on the dip, while Trinidad's Kelly-Ann Baptiste (10.93) and Jamaican Veronica Campbell-Brown (10.99) finished third and fourth respectively.

Bolt won the men's 200m in a meet record of 19.58, finishing ahead of Curacao's Churandy Martina (19.85) and Nickel Ashmeade of Jamaica (19.94).

Kirani James of Grenada won the men's 400m by a large margin, clocking 44.37. There was a Jamaica 1-2 in the women's 400m hurdles, with Kaliese Spencer (53.49) and Melaine Walker (53.74) both clocked season bests.

Jamaicas Kimberley Williams finished fourth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.35, while Cleopatra Borel of Trinidad came fourth in the women's shot put with a putt of 18.50. Hansie Parchment of Jamaica came third in the 110m hurdles with 13.15, behind Americans Jason Richardson (13.08) and David Oliver (13.14).

Next up - the Diamond League meet in Birmingham on Sunday:

And once again, Tyson Gay loses to another Jamaican....

Nickel Ashmeade won the men's 200m at the Diamond League meet in Birmingham, clocking 20.12 to finish ahead of Gay (20.21) and his American countryman Wallace Spearmon (20.23).

Carmelita Jeter of the US won the women's 100m in a time of 10.81, to beat her Jamaican rival Shelly-Ann Fraser (10.90), while Jamaica's Kaliese Spencer won the women's 400m hurdles in a time of 53.78, which was a meet record.

Jamaican Rosemarie Whyte won the women's 400m in a season's best 50.20, ahead of christine Ohuruogu of Britain (50.67) in second, while another Jamaican, Shericka Williams came fourth in 51.44. The women's triple jump was won by Saludhuka with a leap of 14.40, ahead of Jamaicans Kimberley Williams (second with 14.37) and Trecia smith (14.09).

Afro doesnt understand the difference between gay and Blake when they both clocked 9.69. You have to factor in wind speed and altitude.

Gay ran his time in 2009 at Shanghai with a tailwind of plus 2.0 behind him. That is like scoring a century against bangladesh on a flat pitch in columbo.

Blake ran his time in 2012 at Lausanne running into a headwind of minus 0.1. That is like scoring a century against england on a seaming pitch in leeds.

it is obvious which is more impressive. There is a formula which factors in both wind and altitude and this is what you get....

Blake 9.70

Gay 9.78

Tyson Gay tried to get a fast start on his young Jamaican rival, but the American went too fast, and was disqualified for a false start, in the 100m at the Zurich Diamond League meet. Yohan Blake romped to a meet record of 9.76 to win ahead of his Jamaican compatriot Nesta Carter (9.95), while American Ryan Bailey (9.97) was third, Kim Collins of St Kitts fourth in 10.01, and Jamaica's Michael Frater fifth in 10.04, in very wet and cold conditions.

Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women's equivalent in a time of 10.83, beating her American rivals Carmelita Jeter (10.97) and Allyson Felix (11.02) to win the 'Diamond' for that event this year. Trinidad's Kelly-Ann Baptiste was disqualified for a false start. It was a Jamaica 1-2-3-4 in the men's 200m, which was won by Usain Bolt (19.66), followed by Nickel Ahsmeade (19.85), Jason Young (20.08) and Warren Weir (20.18).

The men's 400m was won by American Angelo Taylor in in 48.29, ahead of Trinidadian Jehue Gordon (48.40) in third, and Jamaican Leford Green (49.05) sixth, while another American, Sanya Richards-Ross, who the women's equivalent in a time of 50.21, with Botswana's Amantle MOntsho second in 50.33, and Rosemarie Whyte of Jamaica third in 50.41.

The men's 800m was a big upset, as David Rudisha of Kenya was beaten by his Ethiopian rival, Mohammed Aman, in a time of 1:42.53.

You still pleading the case of your beloved past-it American sprinter Tyson Gay?
:lol:
That's how real athletics fans assess times, Afro...watch and learn.
8-)
What that assessment indicates is that next season it won't be long before Blake sets a new PB, which is even lower than 9.69.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/sns-rt-at ... 3231.story" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

'Blake, who joined American Tyson Gay as the world's second fastest 100 sprinter with his run of 9.69 seconds this year, said he expected to go even faster in 2013. "It's going to be really hard for anybody who comes up against me, because I'll be stronger and I'll be much fitter and much faster," he said.'

At the last Diamond League meet in Brussels, Yohan Blake led home a Jamaica 1-2 in the men's 200m, clocking the ninth fastest 200m of all time, winning in 19.54 ahead of Jason Young (19.92), with Christophe Lemaitre of France third, and another Jamaican, Warren Weir, fourth.

There was a Jamaica 1-2-3 in the men's 100m, which was won by Usain Bolt in 9.87, ahead of Nesta Carter (9.96) and young Kemar Bailey-Cole (9.97), with Kim Collins of St Kitts fourth, and another Jamaican, Nickel Ashmeade, fifth.

American Aries Merritt recorded a world record of 12.80 in winning the 110m hurdles, ahead of compatriot Jason Richardson, and Jamaica's Hansie Parchment in third (13.14). Ryan Brathwaite of Barbados came eighth.

Kaliese Spencer of Jamaica won yet another 400m at the Diamond League, winning in 53.69 to take home the 'diamond'. The Belgian Borlee twins came 1-2 in the 400m in 44.75 (Kevin) and 45.02 (Jonathan), with Trinidadian Lalonde Gordon third in 45.13. France's Myriam Soumare won the women's 200m in 22.62, with Jamaicans Anneisha McLaughlin second (22.70) and Samantha Henry-Robinson fourth (22.84).

Remember the name, Afro...Kemar Bailey-Cole. Forget Adam Gemeli and Tyson Gay....Bailey-Cole is the name for the future.
:D
