It's the second time Jacques Kallis - with knocks of 161 and 109* - has scored a century in both innings of a Test. It is also the first time a South African batsman has scored a century in both innings in home Tests.
Kallis' century was his 40th in Tests, taking him past Ricky Ponting's tally of 39. Only Sachin Tendulkar, with 51 centuries is ahead of Kallis.
Kallis' average of 60.51 is the highest among all batsmen who have scored over 3000 runs in the team second innings in Tests.
and fuh all dat you list..all dat yuh rant an' rave I dont wish to see Kallis bat. there is not a single innings of his, nor of smith his captain nor of amla or any of dem I want to see...even for free.
now even though they were apartheid I would look at Greeme Pollock and Dennis Lindsay the keeper/bastman whom I believe is the greatest ever.
call me to look at David Gower and Greg Chappell and I coming with ah run. you doh have to call mih to look at sobers and kanhai, Nurse and Butcher because I findin dem mihself. Lara too!
man I would look at sarwan bat all day! Hoops too! but I wud not waste my time looking at Kallis.
you cyan keep dat all fuh yuhself, gorge on it. I doh want none of it!

he dealt with the full might of the westindies and gave as good as he got. thats a batsman. and all done so gracefully, so beautifully, you recognised a real king immeditely when yu see dat man

same thing with Ted Dexter!
if yu ever wanted to see a man hit lightening other than Kanhai check out Dexter, another one born to the mantle of great batsman.
look here.... Majhid Jehangir Khan, Ian Chappell, Graeme Pollock, Colin Bland, Eddie Barlow, javed Miandad.... and a few more I will tell you about in time! these were batsmen who could work out any bowling challenge, in any kind of condtitions, anywhere in the world.
Kallis is all yours. keep him!

Doh shoot the messenger now!
Kallis is the Sobers of his generation
Before you pop a vein in outrage, consider the similarity in their numbers

man if yu dont know what I think of the Indian elite and its products, such as MISINFO, its behaviour in international cricket admin etc., den arks mih. I will only be too wiliing to tell you
when Kallis start to do the things Sobers used to do routinely I will agree he is as good as sobers. but he has had 1 years to do these thins and he has not done them as yet..so when will he.
the man score 1 double...sobers - many! no quality pitch or attack ever troubled sobers. he scored everywhere, against all attack, on all surfaces. and if one converts all sobers scores to the highest levels then he would approach kallis' quantity of cricket played and his totals would increase dramtically

there wasnt as much test cricket in sobers time. sports medicine wasnt as advanced so players did not go as long as they do nowadays.
but when sobers, kanhai and hall played in sheffiled shield cricket in australia it was of a level as high as test cricket.
similarly with the english county tournament. while this competition may not have been as high as the sheffield shield it was night and day from what it is now.
and the westindian tournaments when they had them which was almost yearly anyway were tough competions of the highest class then known. Barbados and Guyana coud beat any test team during those decades.
deh certainly would beaten thorughly all the south african teams in their day, save the one that rose in the late sixties with 3 or 4 all time greats, supported by several very good ones
it is only recently dat westindian cricket tournaments have fallen into dung heap.
if all sobers scores are taken into consideration it makes Kallis even more pedestrian.
my measurement is always: who would you pay good money and spend irreplaceable time to go and see play cricket...Kallis or Sobers?
Case closed!

Really Maps...Sober scored runs everywhere? I have news for you Sobers average 15 in New Zealand and 23 overall against them. Remember NZ was the new team and should be a walk over for someone like Sobers. Sobers also average 32 in Pak. Sobers didn't score a ton in Pak nor NZ...
