Only three 'batsmen' can come out of this match with their heads held high. Only three of them averaged over 30 in this match. Can you guess who they are?

1) Shiv (of course!) 63 runs, average of 63.

2) Bishoo 39 runs, average of 39.

3) Simmons 70 runs, average of 35.

All other batsmen failed, including Bravo and Nash....

Afro, are you feeling foolish now?

Remind me - what is Shiv's overall Test average?
So you're living in the PAST again Mike? Bravo's average is over the last TWO TEST SERIES!!, What's Shiv's average been in that period?

Anyway credit to Shiv for hanging on today!!..if he continues in that vain then i won't have a problem with him.
I'm living in the past, and the present, because Shiv has the best average in this Test match....
:)
Two Test series? There were two Test series in 2010, against Sri Lanka and South Africa, and Shiv's Test average then was as follows:

Six matches, 394 runs, average of 56.28.

Not bad, eh?
8-)

Of course, Shiv averages 63, and that's not good enough, but all the other batsmen, except Simmons, average less that 20, and that's good enough for you....
Do you realise that if the selectors had followed your advice, and dropped Shiv for this match, there would've been no 48-run last-wicket partnership? Every run counts in this match.

And how do you know Samuels wouldn't have done what Shiv has done? it's all speculation at the end of the day, but Shiv WAS DROPPED THREE TIMES RECENTLY for a reason, something that you can't seem to fathom.

I think you're the one who's 'dumb', because you asked me for Shiv's average over the past two series....
8-)
And for the record, South Africa is a top team, so to disregard any scores made against them is a bit 'dumb', as you put it.

Samuels would never come in for Shiv, so that's a pointless debate. Only in your warped eyes would that be a consideration, and in the light of Shiv's important innings today, it makes your call look for Shiv to be dropped look even more ludicruous!

How could i have been talking about the SA series when Darren didn't play? :| I WAS TALKING ABOUT SL AND THIS ONE!!!.. so like i said TURN AND COME AGAIN!! .

Furthermore SHIV HAS ONLY DONE WHAT BOTH BISHOO AND ROACH (in the first innings) HAS DONE!!..so it's not like Shiv has been a lone ranger!!.

Funny, but I don't see Bishoo, Roach or Bravo among the leading scorers on both sides for this just-concluded Test match....

1) Umar Akmal (Pakistan) 80 runs, average 40.
2) Lendl Simmons (Windies) 70 runs, average 35.
3) Shiv Chanderpaul (WIndies) 63 runs, average 63.
4) Misbah ul-haq (Pakistan) 54 runs, average 27.
5) Abdur Rehman (Pakistan) 46 runs, average 46.
6) Asad Shafiq (Pakistan) 44 runs, average 22.

Shiv has justified his selection in this match, and without him, the Windies would've lost....

That 48-run last wicket partnership with Bishoo took the Windies to a target that Pakistan could not reach.
