I admire your optimism, Afro....
Face facts - West Indies Test cricket is in terminal decline. Shiv and Gayle are the only batsmen to make runs in this Test, while the youngsters are not maturing. Caribbean crowds are staying away from Test cricket.
This will be the case as long as the WICB follows their antiquated model.
The future for Caribbean cricket is T20 cricket...that draws the crowds, and the young people. Watch how the crowds differ for the CPL, which Caribbean peeps see as more important watching the West Indies.
National rivalries between the likes of Jamaica, Trinidad, Guyana, etc, are now more appealing to the fans than the concept of supporting a West Indies that the young people no longer identify with....

^^^RUBBISH..don't make excuses because Jamaican's failed to turn out for your husband!! , i'm sure the other games will draw bigger crowds. Futhermore it's complete FOOLHARDY to write off something before it's even come to pass...the new domestic structure should in theory CHURN OUT BETTER PLAYERS...why? because finally our players will get a similar number of first class game per year than the majority of the domestic players of other test playing nations. If you don't think they will help us improve then you're more old and SENILE than i thought .

Given that new Zealand beat us badly in their backyard and we can't beat them in ours they are officially better than us.
we can only hope to beat the likes of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. No wonder goofy gets so excited by successes against these two teams.

Oh look...the english "WI fan" is laughing over defeat again..what a way to show your "support" ...and of course he'll turn a blind eye to his contries recent loss to Sri-lanka AT HOME aswell...i guess that means SL are "better" than England .mikesiva wrote:Given that new Zealand beat us badly in their backyard and we can't beat them in ours they are officially better than us.

LICA chairman of selectors Lawrence Carty expalined.
“Unfortunately, when we went down the list, actually we came up with one player that would have helped the Leeward in terms of filing the middle order and working along with the inexperienced players...... and that person would have also been able to help build around the nucleus of the young players and that player had some problems; it was Ramnaresh Sarwan ”
