The pressure was so great that after 6 overs WI were 7 runs for 2 wickets. That's what batting second does to you!!
0.5 Lee to Charles, OUT, 85.0 mph, got him! Charles plays an unconvincing swipe and loops a return catch off the splice of the bat. The ball was short and arrived quicker than he expected as he tried to hook. The St Lucian is out and West Indies' hopes take an early knock

2.1 Lee to Samuels, OUT, 85.7 mph, Lee strikes again! Pitched on a good length, the ball rose sharply and brushed Samuel's glove on its way through. That was a devilish delivery and already West Indies are behind the eight ball! Samuels fails again, though he couldn't do much to get out the way of that one

That's 18 balls without conceding a run from Lee. He's got West Indies right on the back foot, hunkered down in the crease...

So, Lee gives up a few. Here's Golu: "WI just cannot run the singles ... Aus bowling has been tremendous. WI has played so many maidens this series..." Fair point - but then we said that in the last match and in the end they scored enough fours and sixes to make it irrelevant.

12.2 McKay to DM Bravo, OUT, he's gone, feathering through to the keeper! Bravo's struggles had been masked by the giddy hitting at the other end but, after scratching around for 20 deliveries, Bravo attempted another glide to third man and nicked off. He's out of there and West Indies slide further into trouble ...

Says the same fool who claimed we'd get "whitewashed"? ok maps!!  , the fact is WE HAVE GOT THE BEST LOWER ORDER IN THE WORLD, full-stop, whether we bat first or second they deliver, it happened against India countless times and the same thing happened against Australia,

if sammy knew that he had to bat, yet take an unnecessary question of 'what to do if he won the toss' to a team meeting, facilitating debate on a issue to which the answer was obvious..he is just as much to blame as if he won the toss and sent the oppostion in on his own.
I think they were scared of the rain, but never the less i totally agree that we should have batted first (i was even saying we should bat first after the first three games) and put pressure on them, it's silly mistakes like that and the run out in the third game that cost us the series,

westindies lost this game by
poor team selection,
poor batting order
Well who else could we have picked? Gayle being gready and Shiv is done, meanwhile Rampaul, Simmons and Ramdin were injured, so taking all those things into account i think this team done very well to compete with the Aussies and NOT LOSE this series,

silly reasoning from westindies brain-trust that has proven incapable of functioning realistically.. for it does not take into consideration the real capabilities of the team they select, and expect more than the team is capable of at all . they therefore make decision that put that very team under greater pressure even that the reality of it, ensuring that even good luck cannot overcome the roadblocks we place in front of ourselves
Despite the mistake they made by sending the Aussies in, lets be real here THEY WENT THREE GAMES IN A ROW WITHOUT DEFEAT, therefore they were feeling confident, you can hardly blame them for that considering the previous results we had gotten.

shive done only in your mind
fudadin iwas a real candidate whu shud have made his debut..selected before powell and charles.
its likely Dawane smith is now ready to realise more of his potential than previously

Powell from the start made no sense. on the seson he is having he shud not have been selected. charles shud not have made the side at all.

and if deh insisted on charles then shive wud have locked down the other end effectively..and DwSmith or Fudadin wud have beem much more effective at 3 than samules..or Darren moved back to 3

my batting in the circumstances wud have been:
shive
Charles
Fudadin
Darren..dropped down 1 notch by the fourth game for not scoring
DwayneS
Samules
Pollard
Baugh
Sammy
Narine
Roach

or either one of Dwayne S or Fudadin..I lean towards Fudadin but dwayne is a very effective bowler though a bastman first..with Polly at 6 and keeping either DwayeB or Russell.

so an alternate side with more balance and more real bastmen in better positioning in the order wud have been:
Shive, Charles, Fudadin, DarrenB, samules, Pollard, DwayneB/Russell, Baugh, Sammy, Narine, Roach.

most importantly we get samules away from 3 which was a horrible mis-use of the player. I wont blame him for his dismal series. he did not fit #3, struggled terribly and Gibbo never moved him. very bad tactics

LOL no old boy Shiv is DONE because the AUTHORITIES already asked him to retire fro ODI's and they haven't picked him since  , FULL STOP, as for Fudadin, four day cricket and one day cricket ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS, he's doing well for Guyana this year but were you calling his name a few months ago? NO, you're just bigging up the latest in form batsman without really thinking about the situation properly,

Charles done well and Barath came in and really showed his class, once Gayle is back then i'd imagine Barath would partner him, and that would strengthen our top order without question, i also agree that it's time Samuels gets dropped, i'd play either Deonarine or Bonner in his position, both are batters who can bowl spin like Marlon.

Code: Select all

NO, you're just bigging up the latest in form batsman without really thinking about the situation properly
there is somethng wrong with that?

yu see yu are not even considering the fact of late developers/development...a principle when it comes to sports..indeed anything at all.

a youngster starts full of potential..like your bwoy Powell.. but does not do as well as quickly as expected. he recedes from the spotlight and in a few yeas he begins to express all that was expected from him earlier.

yu have to be on the lookout for developments like that. this in fact could be exactly what Fudadin represents.

i dont know but I have to consider that if the young man is scoring. and he ought to be given the chance once he establshes the creds

So you would drop Andre Russell who was one of our BEST PERFORMERS? let us remember in the previous THREE GAMES before the defeat yesterday we were the better team, so can we really blame them for sticking with the same eleven? my view is everyone can learn from this experience and next time with an even stronger team we'll be able to actually win the series,

Gayle
Barath
Deonarine/Bonner/Fudadin
Darren Bravo
Dwayne Bravo
Pollard
Ramdin (wk)
Russell
Sammy
Narine
Roach/Rampaul

would be the best team for future one day games IMO,

by the book..by the time of the OZ ODIs..thrown out to the public for selection..which of the 2 you think the wud have been voted in...Powell or Fudadin?

yu prefer Powell based on 1 innings in tests in India, 1 ton in dung heap...and a whole lot of failues. Fudadin had not been bad in dung heap and was having a very good season.

I think Powell did not have a chance. so who is thinking through or not thinking through? by any calculation Powell was a foolish pik?

and if the public choice had been between johnson charles and Fudadin.. if Charles had gotten 1 exact vote he wud have gotten a lot..even in st lucia.

so who is thinking and who is not

in hindsight no..I wud not drop him. after these games I wud pik him before DwayneB. but by the time we are talking about, I wud not have done so!
