But... but a.F.r.o, you said
if we want to make an impact then an official page on facebook plus a twitter acount should be built
:?: Doe's this mean you no longer intend to make an impact in Caribbean cricket and that you lied  , say it ain't so.

Well I tekking a liberty:
AFRO wrote:Many moan about how lax the board are and so forth...but the question i have is what can WE as WI supporters do to help OUR team? As some know before this South African series i made sure big cat was sent statistical facts regarding South Africa's previous weaknesses against left-arm pace..which in-turn may have influenced them to pick Cotts. And it got me thinking!!..would it be possible to create an online WI fan group/network who's focus would be to analyse our opposition before each series and detail both their individual players strengths and weaknesses, the whole teams habits and also the many tactics they adopt throughout a match?

So for example if a dedicated bunch of us went on youtube and went through both old and new highlights of our next test opponents England!!..we'd be looking for things like..

1. Joe Root's best shot and worst habits. What gets under his skin? what area of the pitch does he like to score in the most? does he use his feet to spin or stay on the backfoot?

2. How does Anderson set-up a batsman? does he bowl a bouncer then a fuller length on off-stump?

3. What kind of fields do england set when attacking with Broad? and what tactics have they used to set up other batsmen?

4 who are their poorest fielders to get singles off? which batsmen tend to nick single runs a lot?

5. How will Moen Ali react when being attacked early in his spell?

6. Does Gary Balance have a trigger movement at the crease? which way does he get out the most?

7. How good are their tail and when was the last time they perished cheaply?

8. Is Cooks problem against a moving ball on his off-stump still there?

9. What is their recent record chasing?

10, What field placings and tactics worked against england before?

It's those kind of things we would have to find out....if a group of us could find those answers before every series i can assure you i will make sure they end up in the right hands. I know most of this should be done by the coaches (whoever they end up being) but there's no harm in providing some additional help to the team we all want to see do well right?

Many of the other sides already do this of course...but unfortunately we're still lacking in his department which is personified by Ramdin's comments after the first test when he said they "hadn't seen much footage of South Africa before the first test"!!. Also the consistent trouble we have removing tails is down to a distinct lack of knowledge about how the lower order batsmen bat  . The players simply do not have enough plans out on the field...which is why they lose hope once the first few don't work.

If this idea catches fire then i could set-up an email address and even a twitter page and it would take three or five dedicated fans to study our opponents via youtube and then come up with some detailed analysis. Hell even using google to find some articles concerning certain players weaknesses would also suffice.

For too long we've been lagging behind the top sides but it's never too late to try and catch up...i'm a firm believer that the only way we're gonna close the gap on the top sides is by our players being 100% prepared when they step onto the field and by trying to outmanoeuvre them tactically.

We could start with using this a thread for suggestions and i'd extend this idea to those on sissy too!!...LETS HELP OUR TEAM NOW!!

I get a message to seh that AFRO fly out to the emerald isle on a mission. He has been chosen as the one to convince the Irish cricketing authorities to accept a promissory note for some of the anticipated ICC millions - and a commitment for reciprocal tours to the WI over the next 100 years - in return for them releasing Simmons to tek up the Windies head coach position.

Let us wait and see if he will be successful :!: btw my informant also tell me seh that AFRO so damn nervous that he gone pon the mission in disguise and with this video as encouragement that everything gonna be alright if he hand-le the situation just right.

Former Trinidad and Tobago and West Indies all-rounder Phil Simmons is to be appointed the new head coach of the West Indies team at the conclusion of the current ICC Cricket World Cup.

Sources indicate that the appointment was virtually “a done deal”, and Simmons, who is currently Ireland’s Head Coach will assume duties when the show-piece event in Australia and New Zealand has concluded.

Only last Monday Simmons inspired his side to a shock four-wicket defeat of West Indies in their opening game of the Cricket World Cup at Saxton Oval, New Zealand.

The former all-rounder, who is in his eighth year as Ireland coach, signed a two-year contract extension in December, 2013 and had previously, coached Zimbabwe.

He will fill the vacancy left by Ottis Gibson, who parted company with the West Indies Cricket Board last August, just days prior to the start of the Bangladesh tour of the Caribbean.

Since then, assistant coach Stuart Williams, team manager Sir Richie Richardson and bowling coach, Sir Curtly Ambrose, have assumed technical duties with the side with the WICB in no hurry to name a new coach.

Since taking over Ireland Simmons has overseen the capture of two Intercontinental Cups while ensuring qualification for four successive World Twenty20 campaigns.

In 2013, Ireland, an associate ICC member, became the first team to win the Associates’ treble of the Intercontinental Cup, World Cricket League and Twenty20.

Once the appointment is confirmed, Simmons will be in charge of West Indies home series against England, who tour the Caribbean from April 6 to May 5 for three Tests.

Simmons played 26 Test matches for the West Indies, scoring 1002 runs and 143 One-Day Internationals scoring 3675 and taking 83 wickets.
Dear Cricket Ireland,

Could Mr Simmons be given special dispensation to stay behind and watch west indies remaining games in WC2015?

Can we give Simmons a go please. Simmons has a modest record as an international cricketer; is Singh's any better?

Truth is that I am not sure managing West Indies is an attractive proposition right now (when was it last so?) Simmons has rebounded from personal adversity on the field of play; and has performed admirably as figurehead with a team that at this level will be classed as 'underdogs against the Test playing nations

I reckon if Ireland accepted a full 'old time' itenary to tour the West Indies - including warm up games against national teams as build up to the tests - they could prove handy opponents.

Mr. Singh's name has been mentioned - including by your good self - almost every time this vacancy comes up. There was still a bit of steel in the spine of Windies cricketers when Simmons played so let's hope he can draw on some of that, allied to his other accomplishments since,
to get our representative team to play good cricket.

Simmons clearly has done very well for Ireland Howzdat but my worry is that there is a vast difference between a minnow with low expectations and a historically massive institution like the West Indies. Singh at least has been part of the India international set-up alongside Gary Kirsten and has also been part of the Mumbai Indian's success in the IPL and recently lead the Barbados Tridents to CPL glory..either one would be decent tbh.

Simmons is Windies new coach with a horizon at outset

Phil Simmons...got the nod over Robin Singh.
Former T&T and West Indies all rounder Phil Simmons is the new coach of the West Indies cricket team.

Simmons was given the nod over T&T-born former Indian national Robin Singh for the top post and will be signing a contract with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) today. He will take up the position for three years in the first instance....

Broad to Bravo, OUT, tad wider and Bravo plays a rather lazy flick at it and edges to first slip! Simple catch for Cook. Bravo will be disappointed with that; poor stroke. Just followed a length ball really that was angled across him, sort of tried to run it down towards third man but not really, it was a flirt and the ball already had a boyfriend. Thick edged pouched. Bonus for England

Brain transplant in The Future of Lil Bravo? Yes & till we find a willing and able surgeon my suggestion is that he be DROPPED. How soon after the post lunch resumption did he do that?

Darren Bravo should not be selected for the next test match even if it means picking a debutant.
