Here is what P.E. Gibson said about Sarwan. My fren will be responding to this on another site.. If you have any questions or comments let him know. BTW, if you would like to contribute contents @ WICBSUCKS.com please do so. Whining on a forum wouldn't help much .. :)
Leaving out a player of Sarwan’s ability – he’s done well for West Indies over his time as a player – it was a tough decision, it was a decision that took some deliberation. It came down to whether we can continue to take Sarwan on tour and then have one of our best players not available to us for selection all the time (while on tour).

I was consulted and it took a long time to decide which way we were going to go with (Sarwan). Sars has had his issues with fitness before and the decision was taken to give him more time to get fit. I still think he’s got a lot more contributions to make to West Indies cricket and that gives him the opportunity to do the things he knows he needs to do to not just get fit but stay fit to make those contributions.

He’s an elite athlete. That’s what cricketers are nowadays and they look after their fitness. That’s something that everybody else (in world cricket) is doing and if it is proving successful for them we have to get on board as well and our players have to understand that.

What is Gibson qualification as Coach? We all know that he is a mediocre player with limited international experience. His bowling average in test is 91 :D

Why is Smith on the team? Who selected the team the selectors or the board?

Sars non selection is beyond the boundary...WICB is hiding behind fitness without physical examination

WICB have two doctors... Dr Hilaire and Dr Huntes

nothing justifies skansh as v cap..absolutely nothing!

it is pure vindictiveness and stupidity to remove Bravo from the v cap at 25-26, a man of growing experience and professionalism, whose place on the side is secure... for sknash at 33, a mediocre capetbagger who happens to be white...the real basis of his selection.

somebody must explain the intelligence and value of sknash over Bravo to me for any reason at all, because try as I might I cant see it except for vidictiveness. the double skunts Hilaire and hunte vex Bravo and gayle seek to fatten their pockets as opposed to accepting wicb nonsense.

so they have penalised bravo as they cant Gayle who knew he was going as cappo anyway.

now suppose sknash was a player good enough to make internationa T20! what then!? would he have accepted wicb retainer in the face of all the international juice flowing?

is sknash v cap because he is there, available.... because so freaking mediocre a player he is he has no alternative but to be avaliable to the wicb, for no one else wants him for anything at all? ? ? :?

that being the case.,.skansh as v cap is a backward step not a forward one for the australian old man is a waste of time....and Gibsons justification above is just company generated clap trap, toing the line to keep his job.

so what are they going to do at the end of 2011 or earlier, if Sammy fails...appoint a 35 year old mediocre, carbagging rass white australian to the westindies captaincy?

lawd ah mercy!

I am divoced anway! why the rass am I bothering?

Mappy....easy.. you are jumping the gun...we will attack each statements..:) This is one is for Sars non selection ..

We have to look at the whole captaincy issue on a separate thread and will happy to comment on it.

How is Sarwan an elite athlete? ALL WI Players are part-timers... most of the regional competitions are only for ONE WEEK if there is no RAIN.

well sarwan! Sars has himself to blame for some of this and you all cant let him get away with it.

after the english tour when he scored like the devil...highest score 291...Sars fell away for seemingly no reason at all. in ausralia Sars was getting out ridiculously, soft ,soft, soft! when others were fighting hard

freaking why?

in the end sars is professional and must look after himself and his career before anything at all. as long as his career is intact all things are possible. if his career is not intact then he is nowhere at all...not part of the debate.

that did not seem to matter to Sars for the last lil while. Sars gave his enemies the meat, the facts to destroy his career by his lackadaiscal, seemingly careless play and proneness to injury!

if you have to fight for sars now, what must you do and say?

you have to say despite the last year and a half, Sars deserves a place based on all he has done before then. in the current fray that is a hard row to hoe. you have to say 'so wat! the standards are poor anyway, and no matter what Sars deserves a place.

but that is the very case Gibson and the double skunst are arguing. 'the players must get serious, fit...profesionally fit, as if they are serious about their careers, so we can improve play.' is all about raising standars the double skunts are crowing about now! you cant fault them there! you only have to wonder alound about their sincerety in this and await results in time to see one way or the other!

and your defense as to the shortness of the westindian season does not wash! it does not matter how short the season is. the player must maintian himself up to the uptimum level fitness level at all times... he the player, not the wicb...if he wants a career....here, there, everywhere inclusive.

the wicb is responsible for a certain portion of it and they provide sports psychologists, physiotherapits, conditioners, pay for camps etc during a period of the year around their commitments to international cricket. and I suppose other teams and tournesy like the IPL does the same in their jurisdictions and their tourneys etc.

during the remainder the players are responsible for their fitness and readiness to play. so when they come into the orbit of any tournery they are ready to go.... and the 2 week or month long camps are just tighteners and finishers for play on the field.

so Sars is responsible to be ready, to be fit as a professional cricketer. that being the case his opponents would have no case against him and they would have to deal with whatever else about him that may cuase a conflict between he and them.

Sars betrayed himself and we must consider that fact. no matter what concerns a professional has in the overall cricket situation, he should be always be ready to score or take wickets..to keep his career productive and viable, to extend his achievements no matter what all others are doing around him.

what anyone else is doing is their affair, at a certain point in all of life. you an only go so far with the generality...a long way if the movement is positive and a shorter way before you stop, if the movement is foolish. you are there because you are a test cricketer. that at all cost is what you have to maintain. its your liveliihood, your proffession, your career that you must take pride in. if you do not you are out, leaving the debate to those who do maintain themselves at the required level.

I am afraid that Sars faltered for whatever reason and now he must rebuild. the wicb has cause no matter if their intent is positive or malicious. they got the opportuity because of how things went down with Sarss over the past 18 months, especially in Australia.

Sars still has options...good ones. it should not be difficulty to win his win his way back into the westindies side...if that is what he wants to do, decides to do. there are international opportunities that may be very rewarding financially if sars can get in..

but every seeming opportuity requires of sars the very thing westindies cites in their defense for dropping him..FITNESS! no matter how misrepresented fitness is in the issue by Gibson above. Sars is not an elite athlete because he has not reated himself as such, not condsidered himself as such over his career.

Sars is now about 30 and fitness as a prefessional cricketer now really assumes massive importance for the player getting older by the day. fitness for sars now becomes crucial. no matter what he decides to do in cricket, and where he decides to pay....if he is to continue to play cricket sars must get really fit.... and stay fit!

that is what Gibson said. no matter what his motives are, I dont think he is wrong in the case of Sars!

now I would have picked Sars anyway myself and hope for the best. we have no better to repalce him fit or or unfit.

I would make sure that lil Bravo and barath were fit and ready and work with them to make sure they understand their own responsibuilities to be fit at all all times. I would alo pik that kid batsman from Bim and make sure he too understands.

I would work to inculcatet that repsonsibility in all the young who are associated with cricket, plan on cricket careers etc.

but I would not worry about sars or with him. I mean i would talk with him, make sure he undterstands..and he surely does for a long time now... but not be concerned whether he responds or not.

I would pick him as long as he remains a viable performer despite his neglect of peak fitness... and or until one of the kids displaces him in the side..and that ought not to take long now, 2 years or so...or if Sars breaks down irretrievably.

it may be that Sars is Sars and he wont change much! but if in that he remains one of our top batsmen, especially during home seasons I would select Sars without qualms. if he breats down we have all the rest of the palyers to seelecta repladement from. its a lil more difficult away from home but not impossible to solve at all if sars breaks down on tour

fair enough... Sars has been active for the last 3-4 months.. WICB did a fitness check on Sars to rule him out of the SL tour?

Hilaire, Harpers, Chetty, Gibson, et al... all said that Sars is currently fit...so what is the reason for his non selection?

I dont know what they did! they must get physical checks I imagine to asupport the dropping of sars if they claim fitness is the reason. I dont know thay they have.

if they have no such physical report they they are liars, have ulterios they have not spoken about!

as I also argued it may be we have to take sars as he is, a player who gets by on a certain level of fitness. and as long as we get 3-400 runs from him per series, or most series, we ought to be cool with it.

thats exactly the way i would approach sars as player and not try to force out of him what he has not achieved over 12 years now as a westindian player..full, impeccable shining fitness!

also look! Taylor has been left out! that is the one fact about this westindies side I liked very much indeed.

Taylor is young man who has really pissed me off over the years he has played for the westindies. enough is enough! it is either he gets fit and stays fit or he is toast.

if Jerome taylor never makes the westindies side again let alone the Yardie side I would be happy. but then again, I am a divorced fan so it does not matter!
