Some excerpts from the column
In Barbados recently I was listening to former manager of the West Indies cricket team Ricky Skerritt and Guyanese journalist Clive Bacchus talk about the state of WI cricket.
At the end of the conversation we were more depressed than when we started, hence the reason why the week after I felt drained and unable to respond to Skerritt and Bacchus.
whatever our sentiments and hopes, that Sammy and his men will be thoroughly spanked by a top-class Sri Lankan outfit which includes world class batsmen such as Sangakkara, Jayawardene, Dilshan and top bowlers in the slinging Malinga, the uncomfortably fast Fernando, with the confusing Herath and Mendis in train.
Those first three batsmen named are amongst the best in the world today and the bowling team is a good one even after the retirement from Test cricket of Muralitharan, one of the two or three greatest spinners who ever bowled.
As could be expected, there have been many comments on the selection of Sammy to lead while Gayle and Bravo have been passed up and Sarwan and Ramdin have been left out,
Although Sammy has struggled in the past to hold down a Test spot in the team
But it must be acknowledged that the team is palpably weak in bowling and will pose few problems for the top class batting combination.

Sammy added: "We have been working hard and we are enjoying it. It is good that everyone is enjoying what they are doing and taking responsibility for their individual game. We have been seeing smiling faces and we are all pulling together in the same direction."
I hope HE din' expect the bwoys to be walking around the camp vex, vex all the time!
HE is smart...and right to take these small comforts at the outset as HE is doing...smiling faces, hard wuk in the training etc. HE must realise its wen the pressha drop is wen we go know whats in the pudden.
which one westindies fan, going to break Laras' record against that bowling attack...Sangy, Jaya or Dilshan?

I hate to be stating the same thing all the time . But if WE bluntly refuse to acknowledge these facts ; it will become obvious after a time that , the WICB is the cause of all our failures in Cricket . When the WICB announced with great fanfare from its Lackeys on various Message Boards , that it was having a Camp , I anticipated a real meaningful Camp , lasting for at least 3 weeks . Sadly that is not the case .
By not taking into consideration the fact that OUR PLAYERS ARE PART TIME CRICKETERS , WHO PLAY LESS CRICKET THAN PLAYERS ON TEAMS RANKED ABOVE OURS .
THE WICB ALSO DID NOT TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE FACT THAT THE STANDARD OF CRICKET IN THE REGION IS ALSO BELOW THAT OF COUNTRIES WHOSE TEAMS ARE RANKED ABOVE OUR TEAM .
In my opinion , the duration of pre Sri Lanka Tour Camp is very inadequate ; when consideration is given to what I have stated above . This is also compounded by the fact that there is only one warm up Match prior to the First test Match , OBVIOUSLY THIS INDICATES THAT THE WICB LEARNT ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FROM
THE 2007 TOUR TO ENGLAND , ON THAT OCCASION THE ONE WARM UP MATCH WAS SCHEDULED WAS
CANCELLED , THE VERY NEXT MATCH WAS THE FIRST TEST MATCH .
THE WICB ALSO LEARNT NOTHING FROM THE PREPARATIONS THAT ALLEN STANFORD & HIS CRICKET
BOARD MADE , THAT TURNED THEIR TEAM WITH ALL THE REGIONAL SHORT COMINGS INTO A TOP
NOTCH TEAM ; AND PROVED THAT BY WINNING THE TWENTY / 20 TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS MATCH .
This happened because of the intense preparation prior to the Match . IT ALSO PROVED THAT THE PROBLEM
WITH THE COMPETITIVENESS AINT ABOUT LACK OF TALENT , IT IS ABOUT LACK OF PROPER PREPARATION .
UNFORTUNATELY , THE BLIND MICE IN THE WICB EITHER CANNOT SEE THAT , OR ARE OBLIVIOUS TO WHAT
I HAVE STATED ABOVE . REMEMBER THIS AXIOM : PROPER PREPARATION PREVENTS PISS POOR
PERFORMANCES . THAT BEING THE CASE , OUR TEAM IS NOT LIKELY TO WIN ANY SERIES ,

why allyuh insis' on calling wicb bline' mice is wat phases me! why the rarse arent they deliberate, purpose, with the intent of killing-off westindies cricket?
how can these things happen all the time without due positive change..in the presence of so many people pointing it out, criticising it all to hell?
positive alternatives are easy to see..even for the bline'!
nobody in all of creation is dat stupid. and if they not stupid deh are going it deliberately.
westindies have been agreeing to these ridiculous, deleterious, self-destructive itineraries for a long time, despite the complaints of the players and the media.
some of them in the wicb right now used to complain about the very type of itineraries, and now they come and agree to them as administrators.
you go come tell me now, that this is some kind of mistake, dat they bline' and cyar see!?
nutten tall go so!
hilaire and hunte hit wesindies fuh a huge lash, adding to the sammy captaincy.
these fellas are doing it deliberately man...according to some plan that does not have the best interest of the westindian people at heart.
in fact it is a deliberate, conscious and planned attack on the westindian people and their potential cohesiveness,

You are absolutely correct , it is just that I decided on this occasion to be charitable to the Emperors of the WICB . I may or may not have expressed this opinion before , but it has become increasingly clear that the Emperors in the WICB are deliberately short changing Cricket in the Region so that the ignorant & uninformed can blame the Players .

We took the best we had on previous tours to S Lanka and got an arse wooping ,
now what does one think will happen on this one . Moses can help us on this one , lets see what
happens to Sammy's God , will he be deserted .
