Lewis has been appointed Project Officer – Cricket Operations.

A Grenadian who played five Tests and 28 One Day Internationals, Lewis last appeared for the West Indies in 2009.

In his new role the 36 year old Lewis will give up mesmerizing regional batsmen with his leg spin bowling and focus on managing the logistics and operations for WICB regional tournaments and other cricket operational matters.

“I see this as a natural transition for me. After a long career for the Windward Islands on the field I am now in a position to contribute to the development of cricket from behind the scenes,” Lewis said.

“My entire adult life has centered around playing cricket and I look forward with anticipation to this challenge in a new phase of my life,” Lewis said.

“I plan on taking this opportunity to educate the players about the immense amount of work which goes on behind the scenes so they can be more appreciative of what it takes for cricket to be played,” Lewis said.

I hope that eventually he will replace that clown Tony Howard , who is the epitome , of incompetence . This is a good move by the WICB , however it is still tinkering around the edges . In essence the WICB is picking low fruit from the Tree .

Now it will get my applauds & approval when it decides to have harmonious relations with the Players & WIPA . Also when it decides to fully restructure the WICB ; the Regional Cricket Boards ; and its Operations
at Factory Road . This obviously must include a commitment to Total Transparency & Total Accountability .
Frankly if there was Accountability in the WICB , Tony Howard would have been long gone .
