linkOf the business of West Indies cricket today, Bishop refuses to be negative about the team's prospects in 2011. He is especially looking forward to the exploits of a couple players in particular.
"Darren Bravo for me...I am certainly looking forward to see what he will do at the World Cup and the Test matches. I'm very, very excited about that. I think everybody realises how good he can be given what we saw in Sri Lanka. And having seen Kemar Roach perform on relatively flat wickets, just to see him get some adequate fast bowling support would make his impact even more tremendous."
Bishop also has the binoculars on local fast bowler, the Sagicor High Performance Centre product Shannon Gabriel, of whom he says he's heard "really good things". The Jamaican Andre Russell who made his debut in Sri Lanka has also caught Bishop's fancy.
"He has more pace than people give him credit for."
However, the men the ex-pacer would really like to see sharing the attack with Roach are now making their way back into cricket--Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards.
Bishop knows all about what is involved both mentally and physically in bowling fast again after back trouble like Edwards is attempting to do. It would be good if both recuperating quicks get back in a rhythm and remain in it for a spell.
Commentator Ian would really have much to talk about then. In his most measured of tones, of course.
Who are you expecting good things from in 2011?
