to hear dem fellas from up the islands on sissy talk, you would swear wat we alking about is some mighty fine flow since Viv and Andy appeared.
Andy in full flow was magnificent!
and Viv as glorious batsman carried all before him and and as cappo had an unparralled run...not becuase he was a tactical genious but because he was a powerful person extraordinaire, and commanded out of his team what he could not draw out by inspiration, tactical diplomacy and people skills.
but Viv forced his protoge' Richardson on the westindies as captain and we witnessed the nosedive of the revolution, signified by the selection of a team that Richardson could lead...not the best westindian team... by 1995 and defeat for the westindies...after 20 years of winning
Steve Waugh must have rubbed his fingers in glee when Sherwin Campbell and Stuart Williams walked out to open bat for the westindies....1 test match between them. the team had been stripped of Marshall, Haynes, Greenidge, Logie, Dujon.....all to satisfy Richardsons incompetence abd incapqability of dealing with different and strong personalties.
in the space of 5 years westindies had gone from the father-like leedership of Lloyd, through demanding Richards to the antithersis of leadership, a weak and socially fractured leadership that cut it only because somewhere in the process, people powerful enough insisted in the maintainance of Richardson
to Richards credit he came back and was instrumental in correcting the mistake of Richardson appointment with prouncements that made it impossivle for Richardson to continue and so he resigned the leadership, making demands to stay in the team that made his future selection impossible.
from that point the Dottie revo went into stasis, to be re-awakened with the ascension of Julien Hunte. and as if not missing a beat we had a perfect resumption of the idiotic flow left cut short by Richardsons departure.
the leadership of Julien Hunte has been a couple - 3 years of unadulterated nonsense, signified at this point by a slide into the Richarson format of selecting a dead-in-the-water captain and a team to suit his low level, ensuring continuing defeat for the westindies.
there-in is the Dotie un-revolutiont
