whoever thought the ICC would change for the better with the rise of Indian control better have another think. from all appearances the ICC is now worse than when the white men were running it.
I noticed Lorgats bullshit statements but did not have the time till now to get into it. he is playing with peoples lives here, but the obviously racist skunt clearly sees it as only westindian lives.
given the way the world is crazy why would officials minimise any such event? they have to take these things with the greatest seriousness, check them out thorughly to ensure the nature and extent of whatever threat they may contain.
what if it had happened to a white team..what would Lorgats reaction have been? would he have played down what is a terrorist event in that case?
I dounb that very much. he is screwing around only because it is the westindies involved.
next time that prick is in the westindies they should place him in a hotel in a tough area with no security. lets see how he feels then!
I Was wondering About Haroon Lorgat..Idiot!

Maps... Lorgat's statement on the bus incident was reckless. They obviously need to take extra measures to protect the players. However, I don't see how racism come into play. We can't generalize all South Africans as racists.
If you are not happy with the Indians running the ICC, then vote for the Whiteman. However, same can be said about the WICB, should we ask the Whiteman to run things for WI again?
If the WI don't feel safe or have adequate security then they should leave the World Cup. I would hate to see any of our players hurt with these off the field nonsense.

While it might be going a step too far to accuse Lorgat of racism, I get Maps' point....
I believe that Lorgat and the ICC are treating this incident as minor, because it's the West Indies. I don't believe that they would've dismissed the incident as trivial if it was England, Australia, or even India, who were subjected to this barracking in Bangladesh.
I totally agree with what Gibson has to say on the issue....
http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc_cricket ... 04506.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
'Ottis Gibson, the West Indies coach, has said it was "ridiculous" for ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat to dismiss the stone-throwing incident involving the West Indies team bus as minor. "I just want to make it clear first of all and remind Haroon Lorgat of his responsibility," Gibson said. "He can't sit in a hotel room in Chennai and say they were pebbles. What we heard hitting the bus and smashing glass didn't seem to us to be pebbles. So it is not fair to make a statement like that. We as management of West Indies team here believe that was a ridiculous statement to make." '
The throwing of large stones in public disputes is a practice that occurs regularly in the Caribbean too (I was personally subjected to one such attack growing up in Kingston), so Caribbean people do know the difference between the use of 'pebbles' and large stones....

(when I talk about Indian power, rise of Indian rule at the ICC etc, I am not talking about the unit India as a whole...but about the Indian elite who are far from being the whole of India and certainly not representative of the all of India...but precisely obly about their class interest and domination of that nation.
the ICC from its inception, cricket as it originated in England, and spread around the world was and is tool of imperialism, replete with elitism and racism.
crickets administration has not changed in a hundered years to reflect democracy but has sprouted a huge, parasitic and undemocrtic bureaucracy that feed of and stifles the game internationally.
the ICC had been under lots of criticism and may have been expected to change with the rise of brown power. such expectation was silly for brown power or blac popwer... as long as it too is elitist... will not make the slightest difference compared to the english./power that preceeded it)
