actually westindies at the WC could use both a fit and ready Samuels and Bishoo.
it made little sense in retrospect to walk with both Benn and Miller. spin variety in Indian conditions would have been better from the start.
to have added David Bernard to the mix already there would have been very unsophisticated selection...redundant to an extreme. Sammy is already there and Bernard is only marginally better than he is. Russell is also there and he is better than both Sammy and Bernard and cant into the side.
I see no problem with Bishoo...or Sammuels had he decided to go!
as for Buttsys' rationalisations what else could be expected from a corrupt bureaucrat...clarity? be serious!
when you talk with those guys if you get any different you woudl start looking at them suspiciously. something would be wrong with them!

West Indies’ choice of their third substitute player for the current World Cup is as bewildering as that of Cameron Cuffy for Carl Hooper at the 1996 version.
Seeking a replacement for Dwayne Bravo, an out-and-out all-rounder injured in the first match against South Africa, they initially turned to an unwilling Marlon Samuels, an out-and-out batsman, and then to Davendra Bishoo, an out-and-out bowler.

he shud have gone. it turns out that he is realy needed and I am sure he would have done well. but I dont know about Samuels man. he seems a kind of muddled fish, anyting is possible with him.
why wont they pick Edwrads if they have him there?
also I guess we have to consider his focus on returning to the test side and doing well. he appears to really want to play test cricket and do well. I hope he does!

I dont think so now! I was thinking so before but I think I see the selectors intend to include Samuels.BallOil wrote:It will be tough for Samuels to make the test side...with Barath, Gayle, Bravo, Sarwan, Shiv, Nash, Edwards should be ahead of him, Smith, et al..
also haynes is still in there - selector. he will throw a tantrum if deh doh pick Samuels and buttsy have to be afraid of dat.
a yardie cutarse is prolly something he would be totally afraid of

and I dont think they will be able to maintain Devon much longer. dat bwoy simply cant bat well enough. and deh love dat white australian bwoy..wats his name?
dat is why I said watch out fuh lil Barath and his injury bug! the fitness rule may be applied right here in favour of Samuels, while deh work out some makeshift opening partner fuh gayle. maybe force lil B to go in first.
and now dat gayle wont he hired in T20 no more all talk of dropping test cricket on his part don' all of a sudden he doh hate the longer version of the game no more

I think the WC opportunity was the chance for him to prove his worth and force his way back... Will the selectors ever think he is ready again? How will they know?
Looking at his international stats there is nothing worth writing home about and really think his missed the boat.
I don't think Marlon was permitted to play local matches during his ban. However, he could have worked on his mental game during that time since that is the weakness for most WI players.

still he can bat...potentially really, really good. I am thnking dat deh think he is still worth a risk to see if he has matured and we can get out of hm what he always promised.
maybe if there are no worthy youngsters challenging for a spot. for me the younger potential always come first

no doubt he can bat... But can he raise his game at the international level? Marlon's average after play 29 tests is 28.73 and 30 from 107 ODIs. How much more time you want to invest in Marlon for him to realize his potential?mapoui wrote:still he can bat...potentially really, really good. Kurt Edwards has been knocking the door for the past couple of years and and is ahead of Marlon.
