“From a batting point of view, I’ve been able to practice against most types of bowling within those conditions so that’s been really beneficial.” Hildreth admitted that finishing first would have been a fantastic way to cap off a successful tour but he was left to rue his side’s luck. He said: “I feel we deserved more out of the trip as we probably played the strongest cricket of the teams out here. Aside from Briggs and Dernbach, the rest of their bowling was inconsistent or didn't play enough. They batted well, but batting saves matches, while bowling wins matches. They drew five games, which shows that their batting was good, but their bowling was generally not able to finish off sides in their second innings.
