WICB DENIES PLAYERS BEING INVITED FOR HOME SERIES CAMP

The Corporate Communications Officer of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has denied reports that Jamaica’s middle order batsman Marlon Samuels is among five players invited for the upcoming Digicel home series against Pakistan and India.

Imran Khan told RJR Sports that selectors have not yet named a squad for the tour.

It was reported by the Trinidad Guardian newspaper (See Below) that Samuels along with Trinidad and Tobago’s Lendl Simmons, Dwayne Bravo and Kieron Pollard as well as Anthony Martins of the Leeward Islands have also been invited to a training camp in Barbados…

______

Trinidad Guardian Report:

The West Indies Cricket Board has invited Five (5) players to join the Twenty Three contracted players (for the period October 1, 2010 to September 30, 2011) in preparation for the upcoming Digicel Home series against Pakistan and India, the Trinidad Guardian has learnt. Among the five players invited for the training camp in Barbados are Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo and Lendl Simmons from T&T, as well as Marlon Samuels of Jamaica and Anthony Martins from the Leeward Islands.

Watch the ride....
When the WICB do officially announce the squad, let's see if it differs from the Trinidad Guardian story, and if so, in what way.

I was skeptical from the start wen I did not see Devon Smiths name.

there is no way the skunt is going to leave him out now, after going to all the trouble to take him to the wurl skup, and doing so-so...which is better than he has ever done before

Smith was on the list... All the contracted players plus the 5 players the article mentioned...

come on, you know Shilly is itching to fling a few

I heard that the HPC helped him out with some remedial work but it’s hard to change a bad habit. GIbbo called in Shilly for backup to pelt out the seniors since his first attempt failed.

Note that Gibbo took Shilly to Sri Lanka knowing he was pelting... There goes his credibility as a bowling coach! What about the Russell run up that Gibson didn't addressed yet?

Well you're wrong actually, firstly Shilly went to Bangladesh with the A-team and didn't get called, then he played in the home series against SA AND DIDN'T GET CALLED, so what was Gibbo meant to do? just drop him for nothing? :? as for Russell, well i was one of the first to point out his run up problem on Caribbeancricket and i didn't want him anywhere near the team until he sorted it out but it was evident that he'd addressed that issue when i saw him bowl in the world cup, you can diss Gibbo all you like but one thing you cannot fault the man for is the good work he's done with the bowlers!!.. Roach is a prime example of that!! .
