Shiv said in his line and length interview, in which he blasted coach Gibson as a terrorist, that his goal since he was a little boy was to score 10,000 runs in both tests and onedayers.

ONEDAYERS

Shiv has 8778 runs but he will not get to 10,000 because he was discarded by the WI selectors.

TESTS

Shiv has 9063 runs. So he still has a shot at 10,000 test runs.

WHAT SHIV MUST NOW FOCUS ON IS AVERAGING 50+ IN TESTS.

Right now Shiv's test average is 48.98

Only 6 WI batsmen, playing in a minimum of 20 tests, have averaged 50+ in tests.
60.83...Headley

58.61...Weekes

57.78...Sobers

56.68...Walcott

52.89...Lara

50.23...Richards

Shiv(48.98) must now aspire to enter the elite 50+ test average club.

The Black Prince is you a trouble maker?! You aint listen to the interview and hear shiv say dat whilst he at de crease de management sending he instructions on how and how to bat!

How many more tests you think Shiv need to play before he reach that 50+ test batting average? I do not think they will give him that chance.

I rememember thinking that they should have allowed Lara to reach 120000 test runs. They never did and now Tendulkar going further and further into the distance. And Ponting pass him too. 120000 and something sounds so much better than 11953. Ah well dem don't think like we fans do!

If they give Shiv the chance to get to that 50+ test batting average I might just have to eat my hat after all.

Good luck Shiv whatever happens.

I see you are mathematically challenged!

Check this:
If Shiv scores 187 not out in his next test innings his average will rise from 48.98 to 50.00.

Shiv said his piece, and get it off his chest. Now back to cricket, I want to see Shiv bat do the talking. Welcome back Shiv! :D

Very funny about the mathematically challenged remark ;) He will need to score that 187 in less than two days for that scenario to become reality or have a not out aggregate score of 187.
There is no way that the current management will allow him that luxury especially if they are of the opinion that his batting pace jeopardises the team chances of pressing for a victory. And yes, I am fully aware that he can cart the ball all around the park when the mood takes him.

I have nothing at all against Shiv - he has been a batting stalwart in the team and is worthy of a place of high regard amongst the WI greats, however listen to the interview and let me know if you think he thinks he has a chance to make that a reality?

If Shiv gets the chance to get to that 50+ test batting average and actually does it I might just have to eat my hat after all. And i would do so happily because no one is more deserving.

Wicked. That cracked me up with laughter

Is which England captain did do that to Graeme Hick? declare when he had 99 I mean.

Did it also happen to that black fast bowler/all rounder who played for England? I can't remember his name now. Not the Guyanese born fellow who is now in jail convicted for drug smuggling.
The player I had in mind started his innings as nightwatchman and continued the following day, if memory serves me right. Anyone remember his name?

There was another quite promising player who it happened to. I think he started his innings as nightwatchman. Anyone remember his name?
Alex Tudor?

There is an old saying, "when life serves you lemon go make lemonade."

Shiv needs to move on with his career. He has been discarded in onedayers. He needs to now focus like a laser in tests and aim to join the 6 other West Indians who ended their careers averaging 50+ in tests.

Shiv said his dream was to score 10K runs in tests and onedayers.

Well, he still has a shot at 10K in tests and he must now aspire to average 50+
