is this a training camp or a game?Fifteen players have been invited to participate in a two day match on May 8th and 9th at the Demerara Cricket Ground in Georgetown.
I know WICB wanted to pull Shiv and Sarwan from the Guyana XI playing against Pakistan to join the camp.

linkChanderpaul's involvement in this practice game, though, means he will not be able to play the match between Guyana and the Pakistanis, which will take place on the same dates at Bourda. Having been dropped for the one-day series, Chanderpaul had said in an interview with local radio station Line and Length that he was keen to play against Pakistan before the Test series in order to have a look at their bowling.

it is a mistake to drop Benn! a very stupid drop indeed!
Russell from what I see is not ready for prime time. it wud have been better had they picked Martin. he wud be more useful than Russell!
smith has returned as I predicted and will open with simmons!
sammy will be captain and westindies will lose dismally as usual because we are putting out a weaker team than we have...deliberately, calculatedly.

It seems to me that both Shiv and Sarwan won't be playing in the Guyana XI, because it seems that the 15 will be joined by a few local players, and will be playing some kind of warmup match. I think the selectors in particular want to see with their own eyes if Brathwaite is ready for the big time. If not, we could see Smith opening the batting with Simmons....BallOil wrote:is this a training camp or a game?Fifteen players have been invited to participate in a two day match on May 8th and 9th at the Demerara Cricket Ground in Georgetown.

I suspect we'll see one spinner (BIshoo) for both Tests, and let's face it - with Sammy in the side, we can't accommodate another spinner. If Bishoo does well enough, we probably won't miss Benn.

Guyana TimesChanders to play in President’s XI
Although he has been recalled to the WI squad for the first test against Pakistan to be played at the Providence Stadium, May 12- 16, Guyana and West Indies batting star, Shivnarine Chanderpaul will still play in the two- day practice match between a Guyana Cricket Board's President's XI and the touring Pakistanis. Chanderpaul received clearance to play from the WICB. The game will be ' Tiger's' first real " knock" since the World Cup

A wounded Tiger will still be more dangerous than some of these posersGoogley wrote:the WICB (& Afro) hoping Shiv gets injured so leaving him out from the test will be an easy call!

Anyways, hope to see Kraigg batting with his hero in the first test.
