West Indies Cricket Fans

We need to have to spinners in the starting 11 for the two upcomming test matches.

These matches will be hosted in Guyana and St.Kitts, none of which will have a wicket offering assistance to quicker bowlers for any significant duration over 5 days (if any at all). Hence if we must take 20 wickets to win those matches, we must consider starting with 2 spinners and 2 out-and-out quick bowlers.


My bowling attack would be:

1)Rampaul
2)Roach/Edwards
3)Bishoo
4)Austin

Yes, I'd go with a leggie and an offie for variation. IMO, having a leggie and a left-arm orthodox spinner gives almost the same effect in the spin department, hence compromising variation.

Ideally, I'd love to have a GOOD bowling allrounder to bolster the bowling department. So I would have choosen any one of Carlos Brathwaite/Riad Emrit/Dave Bernard, however since Sammy is an automatic pick, he's going to have to play that allrounder role.

No doubt, with him in the squad our ability to bowl out teams will be significantly diminished (still hopeful that he proves me wrong for the sake of the team though).

Hopefully, the Windies will cut Sammy loose when this summer comes to an end....

Then, we can look at the arguments for and against using two spinners. But until they do, and since Sammy must play, we can only play one spinner.

bet here! sammy will not be cut loose anytime by a wicb admin led by Julian skunt Hunte..the buildr of police states in cricket administration

well..quality is the first criteria when selecign any player. any offspinner wud have to be able to take wickets at international level.

shillingford was the perfect off-spinner but deh say he pelts. i doh see no next best off-spinner in the region.

Benn is the next best spinner in the wesindies. it is shameful to leave him out. left arm orthodox shud combine well with right-arm leggie

the key is dat deh cyan both take wickets at international level

If we're gonna play another spinner i'd play Permaul (who has a great partnership with Bishoo already and has earned his stripes in the A-team) or Kavesh Kantasingh who has been sensational in the four day competition in the last three years.

Allthough to me the perfect one could be Bonner!!..not only can he bat high up the order but he's a damn good spinner himself, i know he's also a leggy but lets face it leg-spin is what Pak struggle against most so why not kill dem with it? .


Lastly we do have some good off-spin bowlers coming through like Athanaze, Polius and Narine but it's probably too early for those yutes right now, Austin is good but he didn't impress when he made his WI debut against Bangledash a few years ago, i'd prefer to give Jaggernauth another chance instead.

Amit J hasent been taking wickets these past 2 years like he used to. I have never been too impressed with him. it always seemed he was more impressed with himeself that others with him.

and others were impressed by him so one can imagine how much he felt for himself!

I like all those players listed above...Permaul, kantarsingh, Bonner....I dont know how they can all fit in, but all of them appear to be teeming with potential. I dont care how deh go about it but at least the best 2 shoud play

I forgot about kantarsingh. I always wondered why he never got a look..like Martin just go his. that bwoy has bowled up a storm in dung heap consistently.

I feel for Benn. he gave his all in tuff circumstances for the westindies, to come now and just like dat be cast aside by an asshole coach...who himself ought to be the one tossed.

Benn ought ot be in the mix even if he is never selected again. he ought to be in the bunch considered at the very least. he deserves it and the wicb ought to show some respect

What the hell you talking about? I SAID WE COULD PLAY TWO SPINNERS in my "whats your first eleven for the Pak tests?" thread HERE , on the 1st of May ..this is what i said my team would be..

The captaincy can go to either Nash or Sarwan, i believe a team like this is more than capable of getting a positive result.

So like Cuffman i was talking about more spinners!!, but lets be honest who could have predicted that those skunt groundsmen would have been so stupid? .

As for Baugh!!.. well i don't think he "showed me up" as much as Shiv showed up you and the rest of his fanclub!! .
