POLITICAL leader of the United National Congress (UNC) Kamla Persad-Bissessar yesterday called on Prime Minister Patrick Manning to rethink his position on engaging her in a national debate saying such a debate is not about his personal gain but rather to allow issues to be ventilated on a national forum.
“It’s not about his personal gain. We ask not what you will gain Mr Manning, but what the people can gain. I believe the people can gain in benefits.
“They can be better informed to make a decision on election day so I will call upon Mr Manning to reconsider his position so we can meet one on one and the electorate will have an opportunity to see us confront the issues, deal with the issues and of course hear us on how we would govern the nation. So I am asking him to reconsider his position with regards to the debate,” Persad- Bissessar said.
