Starting the day 57-3 after just 20.3 overs were possible on day one due to rain, Essequibo was bowled out for 197 in 51.5 overs due to a combination of injudicious shots and incisive fast-bowling from Demetri Cameron (4-49), Carlos LaRose (2-33) and Sylus Tyndall (2-38). Malcolm Hubbard struck eight fours in a top score of 51* from 73 balls while pacer Neiland Codogan showed his ability with the bat with 39 from 41 balls. It then took just 26.3 overs for Essequibo to bundle the Select XI for 102 as Hubbard bagged 3-25 with his off-spin while wickets were shared by Antony Adams (2-9), Keemo Paul (2-10) and Codogan (2-35). Rajendra Chandrika (24) and David Williams (21) were the principal scorers. In their second innings, Essequibo reached 95-3 with Kemol Savory (30*) and Hubbard (16*) at stumps. Avinash Persaud (23), Kevon Boodie (12), and Ronaldo Renee (10) are the dismissed batsmen as their side built a 195-run lead thus far. Day three is expected to commence at 09:00h.
