westindies...a failed state in cricket!

lots of preparation, a new coach, the right man seemingly. one of us! and yet an anemic effort by the westindies, as bad as the times when we had little or no preparation before series..
I dont know! there seems to be a lack of strategic intelligence in westindies approach from the top down. there is no real intelligence there, seemingly no firm grasp on reality, the true state of westindies cricket and what must be done to get our game back up to speed.
isnt westindies cricket suffering from a lack of organisation, of talent, from poor attitudes on the part of players, lack of motivation on the field, a total lack of awareness of what they are involved in and what is requiire of them as professionals...our players...full effort over 5 days, 4 days, 50 overs, 20 overs?
and our management...arent we rebuilding..or building up? what is the basis of this rebuilding, where is there some plan and structure that makes sense.
this westindies T20 team is a very poor team. we do not have the batting power to win. we do not have the bowling power to win.
I like Sammy as a player but he is not up to the standard required aparently.. gayle Shive and sarwan are not enough. fletcher is an erratic player, unable to settle down and give consistent account of himself. he is not a first class player.
what is hinds doing back in the side?
this is a side that is not going to defeat anybody but the minnows.
westindies must build a team. gibson can only look at what the Oz has done to get an example of what works. the Oz hve assembled a bowling attack of extreme pace, focused around the wicket, that is carrying all before it, running through all oppostion.
isnt it clear that a side must be built for T20 if we are going to play that game well?
Gibson should beat the bushes for real pace, and prepare that pace for T20. not tayl;or but Pascal. not Benn but Miller. not Hinds but best! there are some kids around right now I undertand who are very fast. there we go! start now with them. trainign ad exposure. teach them to bat and bowl to fill out the T20 side. you want them to be able to hit some sixes and fours at the end. and you want them to bowl deadly fast and straight for 4 overs a game.
if they can move the ball even better. the more effective balls they develop the better. a young fast bowler, capable of deadly pace, yorkers, inswingers and out, attacking the wicket all the time will be too much for any team to handle in T20.
so the coach start there. then with the batsmen who like to hit the ball. we have Pollad but his problems are obvious, he has weakness, a consistent effort must be made to solve that bwoys problems with the bat. it will be worht it because he is an allround player of top quality. and he is still ver young.
Perkins is another player who can hit the ball. these are the types we want for the specific game T20. we start building a team now, mostly young for T20...with the bowling, batting fielding, atituder everthing, leadership included, groom 23 players who can be captain and when the time comes pick the best and let him lead.
right now we will lose with this team, gayles team. but thats alright if we are builidng up for tomorrow.

westindies reminds me of Toronto in sport. Toronto is a disaster region when it comes to professional sports. nothing works because the people who own all the sports are utterly greedy and stuypid people, class conscious to a fault, calvinist and jewish they dont give a shit about the people of toronto who pay to see the games regardless.
as long as the franchises make oddles of money by putting out cheaper, crappy, dysfunctional teams, the ownership keep doing it.
the basketball side...the toronto raptors are a case in point. they sspend 60-65 million dollars every year to shove dysfunctional palyers together, who are bound to lose. they make money, apologise to the fans promising better next year and do it again! and again and again and.......
NBA basketball is driven by point guards. ever teams goes out for top point guards, selects for same in the drafts. yet the raps never go for a top guard, or a high quality young guard in the draft. they pay money to the likes of jose calderon who is one of the worst point guuards anywhere.
the raps pay biog money to andreas bargnani an italian stalllion who is at best a guy coming off the bench to do soame damage and sit down again. they play bargnani every night and it is clear as dayling that they will never get top class professional play out of him night after night in the NBA. that guys cannot pay defence if his life depended on it.
but allyuh get the drift. management and ownership does not care because the fans keep going to the games. thankfully westindians have stopped going to see the crappy wicb product! the people are losing interest, have lost interest and it must stay that way. no one should go see westindies play cricket in the westindies period, given the absolute nonsense that has gone on for 15-20 years now.
cricket needs to be restructured in more transparent and democratic ways. cricket administration must be able to draw the talent it needs, the real intelligence and administrative competence the organisation of the game now needs to survive. we wont get that if the wicb remains a fiefdom and preserve of the few elites who control access to the administration of the game.
the people who run cricket in the westindies are the least competent and capable of rebuildign the game in the region. yet the replicate themselves yearly, control total access to the postions at headquarters. they stiffle the game and it is dying before our eyes.
in toronto baseball once a mighty and successful game in the city, when the franchise was owned by european brewers who hired competent people and let them run the baseball. then the team was sold to misters rogers of rogers comunications, a canadian of the money and that was that. he started the same shit in baseball that has been going on in hockey for 43 years and killed baseball.
at least the people of Toronto have stopped wasting their time going to baseball. Toronto will probably lose the franchise unless they rebuild that team quickly.
and toronto hockey is some kind of record for the maple leaf owners have sold out hockey every night, of every season for 43 years and running, never producing a winner.
thats what would happen in the westidnies if the people keep going to see cricket. people like Hunte, gordon and the rest are just like their toronto counterparts, totally contemptuous of the people, elitist all the way, incapable of producing winners, not interested in doing so in the least.
well the people must show them what is what and give up on the cricket...let it die..and allow the elites who monopolise the game to find other things to do to occupy their time

Spot on bro.... I like this...
cricket needs to be restructured in more transparent and democratic ways. cricket administration must be able to draw the talent it needs, the real intelligence and administrative competence the organisation of the game now needs to survive. we wont get that if the wicb remains a fiefdom and preserve of the few elites who control access to the administration of the game.
Rework these posts and lets make it an article

and while I have a minute let me apologise to jerome taylor who bowled very well yesterday only to be let down by his fielders.
this westindies side is toxic and not going anywhere but backwards.
it is time to look to the future and really develop and execute a full developmental program. we may continue to lose for a while, or even retreat like Zim did in order to come back strong.
but we will be losing in a true buildng effort.
the mix of gayle, chanderpaul and Sarwan is not beyond redemption and should not be maintained beyond this year. we expect to win with these players, or to go well, much better than we are doing. but we are not....
just when we thought things had gotten better we slip further into decline.
yesterday was a terrible performance after a long period of preparation. no one can be said to be unfit, unprepared, the team not together etc. if after all that has gone into this effort westindies come out and play like they did then the team is ill and ought not to be kept together much longer.
gayle ought to be freed up to go play ipl period.
sarwan should be allowed to go his own way, dropped!
of the 3 shive is the only one I would keep, until the day he chooses to retire. he is Selfishpaul indeed but his selfishness often coincides with westindies interest...much more so than Sarwans petulance and gayles clear preferrance for T20 and ODI.
Bravo is another who particularly when batting is careless when he should not be, and westindies does not need him to get out. Bravo got bowled playing forward to a simple, straight, fast ball in an Oz test this year that really angered me. Bravo had no right getting bowled by such a ball!
also on my chopping block are players like Ramdin, Fletcher, the total disappearance of wavel hinds, never to be recalled.
what in gods name could Hinds be possibly doing in a westindies side again?
can someone explain such a ridiculous and backward selection?
one goes forward never backwards. in a horse race one always bets on the younger horses save in specific circumstances when an older horse has been so good, that he still outclasses the younger ones.
how good has wavel hinds ever been in westindies uniform?
hinds has been average at best and steadily got worse before he was dropped. what in the hell can he offer now, years after he was discarded?
it is improbable to expect from hinds at this stage of his career even his average best when he was younger.
what a terrible, incompetent and unsophistcated administrative decision it was to recall hinds. it would have been far better if young Barath had been kept home and selected for T20. even william perkins, lil' simmons, imran khan or even old men nash and dowling would have been better than hinds
it is time to focus on the development of a proper side, even if we have to stop playing tests for a while. it is time to expand, modernise and develop cricket in the westindies at all levels.... to bring incentives and rewards for playing cricket in the region, at least up to those young people expect to gain from focus on other sporting activities like athletics, soccer and basketball.
that is one basic way to encourage young westindian talent to flock to cricket again.
never in my life have I seen such a prolonged and intractable period of decline in aything..far less cricket. the thing is that it appears impossible to stem and reverse westindian decline so entrenched the forces of decline appear to be. we know nothing lasts forever...or do we?
westindian cricket decline seems forever at this point. and fact and whats worse, westindian social decline of which cricket decline is a part is well set-in and also seems forever.
I used to expect that when westindians of Indian descent took over the political power they would prosper and grow the region..at least economically..giving a chance for the overall social positives to follow in the general prosperity.
west-Indian power happened in Trinidad and Tobago and in Guyana, and little and nothing changed for the better.
the shit then....the decline... is not racial or ethnic but regional, historical...something in the nature of how the region came to be, its historical and social content....that must be dealt with in a freudian... or whatever manner ...that yields understanding and helps develop solution
