Speaking on Tuesday evening on Barbados radio programme Mason and Guest, Cricket West Indies Chief Executive Officer, Johnny Grave indicated they are working closely with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to finalise the schedule. Reports have indicated that India will visit the Caribbean for two Test matches, three One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals. CWI Director and President of the Guyana Cricket Board, Bissoondyal Singh, had highlighted that Guyana will be hosting some of the matches. The delays are linked to the ongoing Indian Premier League, India playing Australia in the World Test Championship final, and the upcoming Asia Cup. “We are working very hard to confirm the India tour. We are working very closely every day with the BCCI to get into a position to have that announced. Whenever there are tours we announce them immediately, hence we did with the England tour,” Grave explained. He added, “We are waiting on final confirmation from the BCCI on all elements of the tour – venues and match schedules – hopefully we are only days away from announcing that.” With the success of Central Broward Regional Park Stadium in Florida hosting West Indies matches since 2012 and the massive audience when India visited in 2016, 2019 and 2022, Grave said they are toying with the idea of Florida hosting again on this tour. “Trying to get any tour confirmed and announced is a challenge. We have gone through the process of agreeing on the host venues in the Caribbean and we are still in discussion on playing two matches in Flora like we did in 2022. It is just a case we are not in control of everything.” When India last toured in August 2022, they swept the three-match ODI series and won the T20I series 4-1. The matches were contested in Trinidad, St. Kitts and Florida.
