In an exhilarating championship game against Fair Field, Queenstown showcased their dominance by securing a comprehensive victory. The tournament witnessed remarkable performances from various teams and individuals, making it a memorable event for cricket enthusiasts in the region. In the first semi-final, Queenstown/Ariel XI outclassed Adventure by a staggering 121 runs. Queenstown/Ariel XI posted an imposing total of 221-3 in their allotted 12 overs, courtesy of Brian Mangar’s impressive knock of 74, supported by Johnothan Fernandes (53) and Daniel Mangar (51). Adventure’s batting line-up crumbled under the pressure, with the Mangar brothers wreaking havoc. Brian Mangar took three wickets, while Daniel Mangar claimed two, leading their team to victory. The second semi-final witnessed Fair Field Stars taking on Golden Fleece. Fair Field Stars dominated the game with their powerful batting, scoring 231-3 in 12 overs. Devendra Mohan stole the show with his unbeaten knock of 85, including 11 sixes and two fours. Golden Fleece faltered in their chase, falling short by 51 runs. Patrick Rooplall showcased resilience with his composed 63 runs, but his efforts were in vain. Mahendra Basdeo, with two wickets, played a crucial role in Fair Field Stars’ victory. The grand finale witnessed an intense clash between Queenstown and Fair Field, with Queenstown emerging victorious by nine wickets. Fair Field won the toss and elected to bat first, posting a competitive total of 155-5 in their allotted 12 overs. Devendra Mohan showcased his batting prowess by top-scoring with 37 runs. Queenstown’s bowlers Daniel and Brian Mangar both claimed two wickets each, in helping to restrict the Fair Field batsmen. In reply, Queenstown’s opening pair Brian Mangar and Johnothan Fernandes exhibited a brilliant batting display, forging a remarkable partnership of 125 runs. Unfortunately, Fernandes lost his wicket to Mahendra Basdeo after scoring a commendable 61 runs. However, Daniel Mangar joined his brother Brian to guide Queenstown to victory with his contribution of 15 runs. Brian Mangar remained unbeaten on 70, smashing seven sixes and three fours in his explosive innings. The standout performer in the finals, Daniel Mangar, not only chipped in with the bat, but also took two crucial wickets and an outstanding match-changing catch that saw him be awarded the Man-of-the-Match prize. A presentation ceremony was held at the end of the finals where team and individual awards were handed out. Queenstown, the deserving champions, walked away with a grand prize of G$170,000 and a prestigious trophy. Runners-up Fair Field received G$30,000 along with a trophy to acknowledge their commendable performance in the final. Ameer Yusuf emerged as the highest run-scorer in the tournament, accumulating an impressive tally of 452 runs, while Frank Satrohan claimed the most wickets (17) in the competition. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was a closely contested affair, with Brian Mangar amassing 247 runs and picking up nine wickets. However, it was his teammate Johnothan Fernandes who clinched the coveted title, scored 322 runs and scalped nine wickets throughout the tournament, showcasing his exceptional all-round skills.
