ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat has praised the West Indies for making the ICC World Twenty20 a "truly memorable event".

The West Indies Cricket Board found themselves roundly criticised for their handling of the World Cup in 2007, where high ticket prices contributed to a disappointing atmosphere, but Lorgat was left impressed by the recently concluded tournament.

The emphasis on fun and traditional Caribbean sights and sounds was a contributing factor after musical instruments were banned from grounds last time out.

"For me this was a truly memorable event which showcased the unique culture and passion for cricket in the Caribbean.

"We invited the Caribbean people to 'bring it' and they certainly did just that. The ICC is grateful to all those who attended the matches and the hundreds of millions who watched on television."
