"The first edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) will kick off on February 9, 2012 with the final to be played on February 29. The 20-day tournament will feature six teams that will play each other twice each in a round-robin format over 33 matches to be held in Chittagong and Dhaka. Teams will be allowed to field five foreign players in their XIs, as opposed to four in the IPL. Adam Gilchrist, Mathew Hayden, Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Kamran Akmal and James Anderson are among at least 25 foreign players who have made themselves available for the tournament."

I guess this means that Big Bravo and Pollard won't be playing for Trinidad in the first half of the domestic four-day tournament....

I wonder if Gayle will play in this 20/20 tournament as well....

I think Bravo and Polly committed to T&T for the CT20 but don't know about the regional 4 day comp. what is the point playing the local competition if the selectors will not pick the team on merit?

Gayle might be on T20 assignment in SA, no?

That's true...Gayle will be in South Africa.

But word out is that Jerome Taylor will be playing.

Chris Gayle, Marlon Samuels, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were all bought at the auction....

That means that these four players won't be available to play for their countries in the domestic four-day competition in February. The Saffer 20/20 competition runs from Feb 15 to March 30, so there's time enough for Gayle to play in both!

There's strength in numbers....
When it was Gayle alone, they could talk about a rogue player. Now, they will just have to grin and bear it. Who knows - maybe the WICB have authorised this participation, to try and keep the players sweet....
