Speaking Tuesday evening on the popular Barbadian radio programme, Mason and Guest, Cricket West Indies (CWI) President Dr. Kishore Shallow revealed that Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago are the other contenders. Furthermore, Dr. Shallow dismissed the suggestion that the Kensington Oval, Barbados, is already confirmed as the final host, as that decision will be determined at the ICC Board meeting in November, where the fixtures will be ratified. “No, that has not been confirmed yet,” the CWI President responded on whether Barbados has already gotten confirmation as final host. Dr. Shallow indicated the Venue Committee, which is chairs, made recommendations to ICC based on the bids for varying packages. “Nothing has been communicated back to Cricket West Indies from the ICC about the finals”. Countries had the option to bid for packages such as Semi-finals and final, Super 8, Group Stage, and the Media Hub. Barbados (2007 World Cup, 2010 World T20) and Antigua and Barbuda (Women’s World T20 2018 and Under-19 World Cup 2022) have hosted ICC finals in the Caribbean thus far. The ICC has confirmed Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St Vincent & The Grenadines as the seven Caribbean venues hosting matches during the T20 World Cup from June 4 to 20. The USA is also set to co-host the event for the first time, with Grand Prairie in Dallas, Broward County in Florida, and Nassau County in New York being host venues.
