The 37-year-old’s 12th First-Class century was the bedrock of Red Force reaching 215-4 from 81.2 overs when bad light stopped play. After being stuck on 99 for 12 balls, the stylish right-hander turned Kevin Sinclair into the leg-side for a single and leaped into his iconic Cristiano Ronaldo celebration. Mohammed faced 226 balls and struck 11 fours thus far in his chanceless innings. He shared a vital recovery stand of 115 for the fourth wicket with Tion Webster, who made 50 before Webster tried to heave Veersammy Permaul out of the ground, only to reach short mid-wicket. Earlier, opener Vikash Mohan retired hurt on 14 in the 10th over due to being struck on the arm by Ronaldo Alimohamed. However, it was Ronsford Beaton who made early inroads for the Harpy Eagles as he removed Cephas Cooper (8), edging behind to the wicketkeeper, and Jyd Goolie (3) played around a straight delivery to be leg before wicket. Amir Jangoo (27) and Mohammed then produced a 56-run stand for the third wicket before Jangoo chipped to Permaul, only to turn into Raymond Perez’s hands at short leg. Before the start of play, Harpy Eagles presented caps to Perez, Alimohamed, Steven Sankar and Neiland Cadogan as the quartet made their First-Class debut. The second day is scheduled to commence at 10:00h.
