wjhen Viv Richards decided to picl 19 year old ravi rampaul and Jerome taylor of ZM/RSA 5 years ago I argued vociferusly against it. so did Vivs buddy Andy Roberts.
those guys were too young to put so much physical pressure on them. and now it is no suprise that we cant have Taylor in particular for any length of time due to injury
it was the same with Fidel Edwards who had started young and kept at it for extended periods. Edwards was the spearhead in RSA that time around and he was only about 21 or 22 with a series or 2 in him.
westindies had several older players to call on, all serviceable..who would have protected the younger players for another year or 2 before they were pressed into service.
Rampaul went down and has never been the bowler I expected him to be at the internaional level.. a wicket taker of groups of wickets as he did all the way up.
Edwards seems done now and Taylor cannot make it for any lenght of time before injury reappears.

what the hell happen to Barath now?BallOil wrote:Name your 11 for this first match...
and what is it with Sarwan?
if sarwan not serious anyhmore he should retire. Sarwan does not appear to be happy for some reason. even if he is right he shud not stick around and screw up all the time with the bad attitude.
Sarwan have to take his disappointment in stride and soldier on to the end. after all its not peanuts he's making anymore. he is making a very good living off cricket. he is already set for life. so whats with him then?
I not picking no 11 out of this collection here!
no matter how its cut its a weak team that will likely get blown out of the water. the bowling is not test class. its a waste!
