Kieron Pollard clearly prefers to play 20/20 hit-and-giggle cricket for Somerset over ODI cricket for the West Indies A team....

Is he following the path already travelled by Collins?
Somerset or West Indies?

why is westindies making a fuss over Pollard and somerset!?
seems as if Pollard signed his contract a long time ago. it does appear to make sense to ask him to break that committment for an A tour!
Pollard must learn to bat properly. if he cant bat properly by now he likely never will.
I dont see westindies losing anything here in terms of opportuity for Pollard to develop. there seems little diference when it comes to developmental benefit for Pollard betwen an A tour and a somerset T20 season.
so why is the wicb peeved? use the opportuity to blood someone else in Pollards place...turn the situation into a positive, not the acrimony it has turned out to be.
I bet they never pick Pollard again for this! I sooprised deh still picking Benn for his misdemeanour. the wicb must be desperate indeed to keep Benn around. I mean westindian players fallin' like 10-pins in the game of bowling

1) The contract Pollard signed with Somerset is just a pro rata one, which means he's only paid for the matches he plays for Somerset, so if he really wanted to play for the WI A team, he could easily do so.
2) he could easily say to Somerset, instead of playing all 16 of your matches, I will play 12, while taking two weeks out to play for the WI A team. So, instead of earning £200,000 (allegedly), he would earn £150,000, and still show commitment to the Windies.
3) Pollard needs to decide if he's a 20/20 specialist, or if he wants to play in other formats. His current behaviour seems to indicate the former.
4) On the A team tour, he would've played six matches against Ireland, India and England Lions, who are decent teams. This would've been a good way for him to improve his 50-overs game.
In essence, I think the time is right to treat Pollard like Dave Warner - a 20/20 specialist only.
