Australia’s T20I captain George Bailey to attend ICC World Twenty20 trophy tour event

The Reliance ICC ODI Championship shield presentation ceremony and the ICC World Twenty trophy tour event will take place at the Frank Grey Smith bar, Melbourne Cricket Ground, today, Wednesday 13 June.

Cricket Australia Chief Executive James Sutherland will collect the ODI shield on behalf of the Australia cricket team and Cricket Australia from ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat. Tim Sullivan, Managing Director – Australia NZ, Reliance Globalcom, will also attend the ceremony and will present a cheque of US$175,000 to Mr Sutherland.

The ODI shield and a cheque of US$175,000 is presented annually to the side which tops the Reliance ICC ODI Championship table on the 1 April cut-off date.

After the presentation ceremony, which will start at 1200 (Melbourne time), the two Chief Executives will be available for a photo and Q&A session.

This ceremony will be followed by the ICC World Twenty20 Sri Lanka 2012 trophy tour event which will be attended by ICC Chief Executive Haroon Lorgat, Australia’s T20I captain George Bailey as well as Australia’s current women’s players, Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars Jess Cameron and Meg Lanning. Cameron was part of the Australia women’s side which defeated New Zealand by three runs in the final of the ICC Women’s World Twenty20 West Indies 2010 in Barbados.

Besides the women’s trophy, the men’s trophy, which will be presented to the winning team in Colombo on 7 October, will also be available at the event.
