On Tuesday, the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) confirmed that out-of-favour Test batsman Tagenarine Chanderpaul has returned to the Guyana Harpy Eagles squad after missing the third round of the 2025 West Indies Four-Day Championship. His absence was due to a burst webbing on his hand while fielding against Combined Campuses and Colleges. The left-handed opener, aiming for a Test recall, has scores of 40, 40*, and four in his three innings this season. Chanderpaul returns as the Eagles depart Sunday (March 2) for Jamaica to face the Scorpions at Sabina Park from March 5. It will be their first away match this season after three matches at the National Stadium, Providence. The match is scheduled to commence at 11:00h (Eastern Caribbean time). Meanwhile, Chanderpaul’s return means all-rounder Junior Sinclair misses out, while there is no Shamar Joseph. Skipper Tevin Imlach indicated that the Eagles would likely be without their premier fast bowler, who is nursing a shin splint injury. Imlach confirmed that Joseph will unlikely travel to Sabina Park and may miss the rest of the season. The injury resurfaced during the second round, and his upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) commitments further complicate his potential return. The IPL is scheduled to begin on March 22, and Joseph will join the Lucknow Super Giants. Guyana Harpy Eagles Squad: Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Matthew Nandu, Kevlon Anderson, Tevin Imlach (captain & wicket-keeper), Kemol Savory (vice-captain), Kevin Sinclair, Ronaldo Alimohamed, Veerasmmy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie, Nail Smith, Thaddeus Lovell, Richie Looknauth and Raymond Perez. Management: Ryan Hercules (Head Coach), Garvin Nedd (Assistant Coach), Albert Clements (Manager), Marvin Scott (Physiotherapist) and Jaryl Moore (Strength and Conditioning Coach). The GCB stated, “With a well-balanced team of experienced and emerging talents, the table leaders and defending champions, Harpy Eagles, will look to retain their title.” The unbeaten Harpy Eagles currently lead the championship standings with 57.6 points, holding a narrow 2.2-point lead over Trinidad and Tobago Red Force. Their match against the fifth-placed Scorpions (32.6 points) at Sabina Park will be their first away game of the season.Image The post FOUR-DAY: Chanderpaul returns to bolster Harpy Eagles ahead of trip to Sabina Park appeared first on News Room Guyana.
