Grimmond, Latchman spur Guyana to third place finish in Women’s Super50 Cup

Number three batter Realeanna Grimmond and leg-spinner Nyia Latchman made telling contributions as Guyana comprehensively defeated Jamaica in the third place playoff of the Cricket West Indies’ CG United Women’s Super50 Cup in St. Kitts on Friday. Set a target of 183, Jamaica capitulated to 100 all out as Guyana finished third in the six-team championship. Cherry-Ann Fraser made a brisk 47 off 61 (5x4s) and skipper Shemaine Campbelle chipped in with 26 off 45 (2x4s) in Guyana’s winning total. Neisha-Ann Waisome (3-25) and Roshana Outar (3-27) were the leading wicket-takers for Jamaica. Latchman then snared 4-15 off 5.2 overs, ripping through Jamaica’s lower-order, after the impressive and consistent off-spinner Plaffiana Millington (2-25 off 10 overs) and medium-pacer Trisha Hardat (2-30 off five) rocked the top and middle order. West Indies player Rashada Williams top scored with 27, while Waisome made 21.
