PRESS RELEASE FROM TUCBER PARK CRICKET CLUB:  “The Executives and members of the Tucber Park Cricket Club (TPCC) are extremely disappointed with Joshua Thomas’s non-selection to the Guyana under-15 team, although he was the joint-leading wicket-taker in the just-concluded GCB Under-15 Inter-County Super50 tournament. Thomas, a left-arm chinnaman spinner, a skill rarely seen since the invention of the game, performed exceptionally well throughout the tournament claiming 4-37 against Berbice, 3-46 against Demerara and 2-43 against Essequibo to finish the tournament with 9 wickets. He was level with another wrist spinner (right arm leg spin) Reyaz Latif who also took 9 wickets in the tournament. With regional cricket allocating bonus points at the youth level for wrist spinners and fast bowlers, it would be justifiable to select both given the opportunity to earn more bonus bowling points during the tournament, a key factor which has determined the winner of regional tournaments in the past. While TPCC feels slighted by this non-selection, the club hopes that such a special talent be nurtured for the future. To young Joshua Thomas, continue to work hard on all aspects of your game as the journey has now only begun.” Editor’s Note: Joshua Thomas was named among six reserve players for the tournament The squad reads: Justin Dowlin, Lomar Seecharran, Luke Amsterdam, Shahid Ramzan, Arif Bacchus, Richard Ramdeholl, Nathaniel Ramsammy, Jathniel Nurse, Usain Fredericks, Brandon Henry, Reyaz Latif, Patrice Fraser, Rafael McKenzie and Prosper Jacobus. The reserve players are: Khush Seegobin, Joshua Thomas, Bomesh Lall, Nathan Bishop, Tameshwar Deonandan and Tyrese McPherson. Yeuraj Khemraj has been appointed Coach, while Yogeshwar Lall is the Manager.
