Gibson and Sammy should be targeting this tournament.
The WI have an outside chance of making some noise!!

I don't think that is particularly relevant. I did say "outside" chance.
It looks as if the other teams in the WI group are Pakistan, India, and South Africa. I would not bet against WI beating both India and Pakistan and thus advancing to the semifinals.

What was WI ODI record in England for their last series? I don't think WI will reach anywhere in this tournament and the teams going far in this tournament will be just like Ponting said.

And WI play their first two games at the Oval against Pakistan and then India.
Even though it will not be like it was many years ago the WI can expect the crowd to be behind them.

I didn't even read the article actually, I saw the heading and agreed with it immediately. I don't think any of the sub continent teams will reach anywhere in this tournament primarily due to the conditions which they are very poor in. I think Ponting is right in that Aus, SA, Eng and NZ has a shot at the title and that looks like a Semi Final four right there.

As far as I can tell by the fixture list there are two groups:
Group 1: Pakistan, WI, India, SA
Group 2: England, Australia, NZ, Sri Lanka
Therefore, the semifinal 4 cannot be Aus, SA, Eng, NZ. Australia, England and SA could be there but the 4th spot would have to come from WI, Pakistan or India and my argument is that WI have a decent chance of beating both India and Pakistan in ODIs in England in June!!

I would agree with you in T20s but 50 overs are a different game. Would like to see WI in the semis but will wait and see. I still think looking at WI record as a indicator to guide us...
