KFC T20 BIG BASH LEAGUE CHASING MORE RECORDS IN SECOND SEASON
With just one month until the return of summer’s biggest and best value entertainment, the KFC T20 Big Bash League will be chasing more records in its second season.
After smashing TV and attendance records in its opening season, the BBL will return on 7 December with the BIG MELBOURNE DERBY between the Renegades and Stars at Etihad Stadium, the highest scoring venue in the league.
The following night, the BIG SYDNEY DERBY featuring Australian stars Michael Clarke against David Warner will be played between the Sixers and Thunder at the SCG.
The matches are the first of 35 blockbuster games across 51 days of non-stop action over the summer holiday period.
The cross-town battle between the Renegades and the Stars featuring Muttiah Muralidaran and Shane Warne, the two greatest bowlers in history, will get the season off to a flying start.
“Fans voted with their feet and remote controls last season and league will be back bigger and better in season two,” the Big Bash League’s Mike McKenna said.
“BBL was the hottest content on subscription TV in its first season and out-rated all comers across the season. We had an average of almost 300,000 viewers and BBL held the top 31 programs on STV in December and January. BBL also currently holds two of the top 10 STV programs in history.
“More than half a million fans packed venues around the country in BBL|01 and we're expecting even more fans to pick their teams and show their support this summer.
“Our average attendance of 17,753 is also clearly higher than our direct competitors, and second only behind the AFL for sporting competitions in Australia. There were seven sell out matches and three venues set domestic T20 crowd records.
“On field, the best T20 players in the world kept fans entertained with more than 300 runs scored each match. The BBL is the toughest, most competitive domestic T20 competition in the world and the Sydney Sixers' show of strength at the Champions League Twenty20 illustrated the just how good it is.
“Four additional matches have been scheduled this season including an extra derby in Melbourne and Sydney to give fans more of what they want – excitement, fun action and great value.
“As well as the league’s award-winning live and exclusive TV coverage on FOX SPORTS, fans can also watch the action anywhere at any time on their mobile device thanks to Vodafone and Cricket Australia’s Cricket LIVE App.
“To complete the comprehensive coverage, ABC Radio has the exclusive radio broadcast rights while the BBL’s website and social media platforms, including its own App, will take the league’s digital coverage to a new level by delivering round the clock content to fans.”
At the end of the season, the best of the best from the BBL will line-up for Australia in KFC T20 INTLs in Sydney and Melbourne.

Individual general admission tickets are also great value, priced from just $20 for an adult, $5 for a child and $12 for a student. All prices are inclusive of GST.
