Sri Lanka now has 2 batsmen in the elite 10K club in tests!

Kumar Sangakkara has become the 11th batsman in test history to score 10,000 runs.

Mahela Jawardene who is a current member of the 10K club has failed again---his test average is now 49.64

11 batsmen in the elite 10K club in tests

TIDBITS:

* India and Australia have the most batsmen in the elite 10K club---3 each

* England has no batsman in the 10K club

* Pakistan has no batsman in the 10K club

* West Indies has 2 batsmen in the elite 10K club---the great lara and the great Shiv

Virender Sehwag(8559) and Graeme Smith(8569) are competing to be the 12th member of the 10K club.

It was a shocking batting performance by Sri Lanka....

They've declined into a side that plays well in Tests at home, but fails abroad. It's really a pity that the WICB decided to play ODIs, and not Tests, against them. It just goes to show how weak the leadership of the WICB is....

The numbers don't lie:

KUMAR SANGAKKARA IS STATISTICALLY A GREAT BATSMAN!

He may not be in the same class as a Lara or Tendulkar---but he is a great batsman.

* Sangakkara's one flaw is he has averaged only 35.03 in 20 tests against England.

But he has a 40+ average at Home and a 49+ average away.

It's a shame that the Sri Lanka cricket board has decided that the IPL is more important than tests----test series between the WI and SL and SL and SA have been cancelled for 2013---looks like Sanga will not play that many tests in the coming years.

Om Shanti, Rev. Good to 'see' you around. Seasons gretings and all the continued best for 2013.

Re: Sangakkara. He greatness also counts amongst it the following stats in his playing rols as keeper:
KC Sangakkara (SL) 2000-2008
48 Matches, 90 Innings, 144 dismissals (of which 124 were caught and 20 stumped) and 1.600 dismissals per innings.
Coincidentally, DL Murray is just below him in the dismissals per innings keeping stakes with a stat of 1.588.

* The pakis have been playing excellent cricket the past year----they won a test against #1 ranked SA---and now they are about to defeat Sri Lanka.

* Mahela Jayawardene(49.14 avg) is in danger of ending his test career averaging less than 50.

* Right now he is the only batsman in the 10K club whose average is below 50.

Jayawardene struggling for a while now ...

Zimbabwe defeated Pakistan in 2013. They need to be more consistent but they are a good team.
