LOL....what I'm saying is if we going to judge a keeper on his specialist position then let it be.

But, peeps are basing it on batting ...while the batsmen can't mek runs..

now Hendricks get selected for his 18 average

my take on the issue is sound. I dont see anyone tackling the issue in such a manner.

Ramdin is unlucky to be the incumbent at this time. Ramdin is a type like most keepers that mature or come into their best from lets say about 26-28.

all westindian keepers right now are young and inexperienced and as the first on the list Ramdin is sacrifical. he will be an in and out performer, always under pressure from and ignorant fan base who do not understand and expect a consistentcy from Ramdin he cant produce at this time.

I hope at least someone of experience and training is talking to Ramdin..explaining the possibility of what I say..that it may be true relative to him and to go easy on himself....not to expect from himself what the public expects and so hopefully save himself for a long career, and not flame out under the pressure.

with such assistance Ramdin could make it through the next 2 years or so and into a sound, mature and consistent phase to the benefit of all concerned..most of all he Ramdin.

if that does not happen then as I said again, Ramdin is cover for the young man who will mature in his shadow to emerge in a couple 3 years and shunt him aside with superior and consistent play. Ramdin would then be a youngish but burnt out player whose career at the international level would be over.

that I see as the current situation with Ramdin, the danger he faces due to the actual situation in westindies cricket relative to the keeping. Ramdins career ultimately hangs by the advice and professional support he is getting...or his own smarts if he is indeed smart. if its all good he may make it though. if its not he is toast.

keepers as a rule are not very good when they are young. they mature late which is why when one goes through the record books we see most of them win places from mid-twenties upwards and have careers of 6-8 years. we dont no often see a keeper in at 22-23 and play a 12-14 year consecutive career

so just to get this straight...are we judging keepers on their batting or keeping abilities?

man wat is wrong with you?

it is understood on the fact that Ramdin is the incumbent, that he is the best keeper in the region at this time...the best keeper first. we dont have to keep pounding on that fact.

but as such..incumbent... Ramdin is not consistent with bat or glove, leading to much criticism and pressure on the player.

but Ramdin cannot be dropped because inconsistent or not he is the best keeper we have at this time!

on that basis I have proceeded to give my own opinion on why Ramdin is inconsistent, and the dire situation westindies finds itself in, with no experienced and mature keepers. this is the first occasion in my time that this is so in westindies cricket.

westindies had the older and long incumbent Bajan keeper, David Allan, to fall back on in 1963 for the england tour, when Hendricks was unavailable and Ivan Mendonza had disppeared. the streaking star Deryck Murray at all of 19 was sent along as understudy.

Muray won it all in 1963, only to fall back to earth for 10 years before he matured into a solid and consistent keeper for the westindies.

that 1963 situation is the closest westindian situation I can remember comparable to this current situation.

you see there is a whole lot of experience, history and precendent to help us explain what is going on currently. i dont understand why you cant see that fact...why you dont have a more comprehensive and useful picture of the situation, with westindies keeping at the moment.

yu seem very fearful and emotionally involved with the fortunes of Ramdin..what will happen to him and all that!

why? what the hell is all that going to do for Ramdin?

at the end of the day Ramdin still must cope with and maintain himself in the westindies team, a situation in which you have no input or controll at all!

what you can do for Ramdin is to know whats going on in the most full way possible, draw excellent, clarifying and accurate conclusions that Ramdin may use to help himself if you can get your work to him.

one way of getting such answers to Ramdin would be to write your conclusions here on fan, on sissy, on 446 and elswhere..so that it may form part of excellent, intelligent discussions that may reach Ramdins ears and help him along.

are yu sure your panies are'nt showing?

the thing with hendricks is that he was good. hendricks gave away no extras most times...nada, none!

count the extras Ramdin gives away and add them to hendricks average

if Hendricks scored 20 with the bat yu have to add what he saved as keeper...and that would be a huge amount for the westindies.

I mean that is not the case with Ramdin at all. westindies had a huge amount of confidence in keepers like alexander and hendricks...ultimately in Muray and dujon. that was not a worry for anybody in those times.

you must admit there is not fulsome confidence in Ramdin today is there?

there questions is how to get there from here...with Ramdin or whoever proves out in the end.

it is westindies cricket overall we dealing with not with specific players per se!

I wish to see Ramdin do well. we must have an excellent keeper to do well. and I have said that no matter which of the youngsters we select we are likely to have the same problem. the trouble is maturity, development, lack of experience, leading to inconsistentcy and so on.

best we can hope for is for a continuation of Ramdin, full professional suport to him, taking some of the pressure off him by playing a different keeper in the shorter forms of the game. this is like being easy on a great 2-year old horse you wish to mature safely into a money-winning bank in its 3 through 5 years of age

when in consideration of burn-out I suggested they select a different keeper for the shorter versions of the game, you Bally, flamed right out in fear for Ramdin. thats why I say you do Ramdin little good trying to protect him from the natural world of risk and chances, according to his time place abilities etc., which of course is impossible
