Michael Clarke update

Cricket Australia Physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: “Michael is making steady progress in his recovery from the recent lower back injury but is yet to return to training. He will remain in London over the coming days to continue his rehabilitation and will not be available for the first match against England on Saturday. How he responds to the ongoing treatment will determine his availability for the match against New Zealand next Wednesday.”

Event Technical Committee approves Morne Morkel’s replacement in South Africa squad for ICC Champions Trophy 2013

The ICC has confirmed that the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 has approved Chris Morris as a replacement player for Morne Morkel in the South Africa squad for the tournament.

Morkel suffered an injury to his left quad during South Africa’s opening match of the tournament against India in Cardiff on Thursday. South Africa’s next match is against Pakistan in Birmingham on Monday 10 June.

The replacement of a player requires the approval of the Event Technical Committee before the replacement player can be officially added to the squad.

The Event Technical Committee of the ICC Champions Trophy 2013 consists of Geoff Allardice (ICC, chairman), Campbell Jamieson (IDI representative), Steve Elworthy (Tournament Director), Alan Fordham (host representative), David Lloyd (independent nomination) and Sourav Ganguly (independent nomination).

Morne Morkel out...that's good news for us.

The bad news is that the Saffers have a pacer as good as Chris Morris in reserve.
